That is an awful lot for not a lot of pipework... Not sure plod would give you an easy time with no boxes? It does give me an idea though.... Surely there is a half way house to be had here, with just a single reverse and not a lot of wadding.... Think that's a winter project with my welder and some stainless!

I have got something similar on mine with no back boxes. Can be very loud, but tuneful, when giving it the beans but taking it easy around town it kind of moans and then pops, farts and crackles on the overrun. At 80-90 on the motorway, with cruise control doing its stuff, there is just a pleasant background noise over which you can speak normally. I would heartily recommend removing the back boxes as it accentuates the famous Maserati growl and makes every journey, well, special.

Any chance you'd pop your head under and check if any make on them Benny?

I thought they were quite reasonably priced.......compared to Larinis back boxes etc

P

PS Love the poppin' fartin' type noises Benny....like an automotive orchestra to me....:)

No make P. Had them made up at a place in the Midlands. It's just a bent pipe with a twin tip. They cost £330 IIRC. Got them on to see if I could live with the sound; I can and I am leaving them on! A very cheap alternative to the usual Larinis. She already had Larini sports cats fitted when I got her, so she breaths very well. But, EVERY time I give her the beans I can't help but laugh out loud. Fabulous.

Had mine done on the Royal Wedding Day - they've gone back to work and I'm on honeymoon every time I drive it!

Rear boxes removed, great sound and only cost £250!! So no issue if I didn't like it and wanted to go back to stock.

Fabricator stuck this on his website.

Yep fully fitted - it took him a bit longer than he anticipated to remove the boxes as wheels had to come off (I did tell him this before) - but he stuck to his original quote. Blatting etc on lift off - completely stunning in tunnels on hard acceleration. I've not heard Larini's/Quicksilver etc. so unable to compare the sound but I am very happy with it and the price allowed me to purchase a set of black wheels the next day, so a rapid change from silent and sober to loud and angry! I waited a week for the fitting to give time for the new tips to come in. They are not identical but close enough for me!

I will attempt a decent pic of the replacement pipes and post later.

Agreed P, but I don't think you get the full effect in the coupe. You need to lose the roof to appreciate it to the full.

YHTM; That's the sort of money I would expect to pay for no boxes, very reasonable and great looking pipes... Working in Peckam Rye a couple of days every week I can drop down for a chat with him. Did you let him know about the forum?

Hi Solid Fab; do you have ramp facility at your place & have you had a look at what can be done with the restriction under the crossmember?

As I said earlie, I'm only in Peckham Rye so I can drop down with mine sometime for you to have a look at.

Cheers.
