Jay, can you give me the process you use to get rid of swirls, I mean, are you using cutting compounds or fillers? Which ones?

Looks lovely.

Matt,
I do not use products with fillers, correction I achieve is 100% correction which is done with 2-4 machine polishing stages using different combos.

it all depends on paint type (soft or hard) and how severe/deep the swirls and scratches are as to what combo (pad & compound/polish) I use. I mainly use Menzerna polishes but also use 3m and Meguiars time to time

I have a few detailed write ups I would like to post up which would explain the process better but do not want to jam this section of the forum with other marques as its for "general maintenance" of Maserati's.

Perhaps we could get a sub forum just for "car care and detailing" and I could then post up some detailed "write ups" which show the different steps

That's a good idea Matt as we're all keen to get our cars as good as this.

Good call Jay -

I know you paint alloys but is it possible to spray exhaust tail pipes....Mine are silver but dull in places and I just can not get them clean....You have to have sparkly pipes.....A friend has an AMG Mer with matt black pipes and commented that my M5 would look good with matt black....Is it possible..

Andy,

Its possible as have worked on a few cars that have had this done (not painted by me though) but found on all the finish did not last long (paint flaking off).

Have you tried using a dremel on your exhausts with a polishing attachment?

Jay, trying to keep the amount of forums to a minimum. Please, for now, use this section, and dont feel like you are "Jamming up this section" the more info the better.

Also, can you give us members some idea of costs. I appreciate each car is different, but it would be good to know what you would charge for say, an exterior bodywork swirl correction, and what is the procedure to have it done....do we come to you or are you a mobile service?

Thanks Matt, will post a few threads up on some of my most enjoyable details and ones that members can learn from.

I offer a mobile service and also have a workshop I work from here in Wiltshire. Average price for a full paint correction detail is between £500-£600 (of course members would get a 15% discount taken off) with 4x4 costing a bit more. This usually involves 20+ hours of work

Jay, firstly respect for your premium end web site...a lesson to us all!

Secondly, your well thought out, rigorous regime and easy to follow levels of car care are very useful.

Can I wish you ongoing success and am sure some of the guys off here will put business your way!
