Had a sh!t week this week, think I need to unleash the beast (no not that one!) and get a full dose of octane!

Tiling again this weekend (I actually am enjoying it as its going well) and I think I'll wash the car too.

Another 3 points on Saturday please saints, sorry Leeds fans.

My hassle basically is me having to give all my money up to the tax and VAT man, they are killing this country, 40% tax and another 20% to the vat man is killing my cash flow!

We have a full order book and are not short of work, and have had the busiest 3 years ever in 15 during the recession, it makes me feel like turning away work and just earning enough to get by, no reason to shoot for the stars, employ people or feed local suppliers while there are many just sat on their arses!

Then I think that the tax and VAT I just paid will support 2 families on full benefit, it makes me sick!

Then there is fuel....$£%????!!!!!

Rant over....for now.

Yeah...the top 1% pay 30% of the countries taxes.....................so much goes on supporting the "bottom" 10-15%........extremely costly........

All you can do Matt.......is keep as much separate as possible and never look upon it as "yours"........then it just might lessen the pain

Yes but it would be unfair to give NI full independence....

The UK is very heavily taxed if you remember to include Employers NI - the wonderful legacy that Tony Blair left us with.

My Dad always says "you've got to earn it to pay tax on it".

Basically, if you're paying a whopping big tax or VAT bill, it means you're doing something right! Cashflow is the biggest killer of businesses.....cash is king and all that.

Everybody is right in their own way, good ranting thread, I love em. Earn money, pay what you have to do in tax, or get a better accountant, then go out and spend what you have left on something that will accumulate wealth, like property, as well as the juicy toys that we all like that swallow money, they offset each other. Keep up the good work guys.

I understand what you are saying about paying tax as I have earned it, but what it has come down to is very, very bad advice from my accountant.

Every year I ask him, should I be limited yet (as I am a sole trader) but he says no. Now this year he said yes after I prompted him the issue is that I owe 2 years in tax as it compounds, and hence my issues.

I am now running 3 companies to minimise tax and other than £20k of capital gains tax I have to pay next January, I won't pay tax for the next 5 years.

Now, I am happy to pay my share of tax, or I was. The government bodies are hitting the small business so hard now, I have re evaluated my option that it is my social responsibility to pay tax to 'screw them'

I was discussing this today in a meeting with a client and fellow small business owner. She told me that 28 million people are working in the UK .....to support 11 million on benefits, have a think about that one for a while.

Its a hard set of facts and figures to swallow Matt..............but what do the 28 million do......?

The country isn't run very well...........little or no social repsonsibility...................endless billions wasted............not enough checks and balances..............but it all costs money to monitor expenditure on a national scale......everyone is or wants to act dishonestly...sad world

The 28 million basically earn the money to pay for the 11 million, so statistically as an average, every person who works is also paying to support another 1 and a half persons on benefits.

Borrow everything, pay back enough to keep the wolves at bay - or better still pay nothing, live in debt all your life.
They cant make you pregnant (well about 50% of us anyway)

When your gone - they cant get you - debt gets written off.

I know the feeling, I have £150k corporation tax to pay in June, had to pay just under £50k tax last month and now they want £22k payment on account and to think I paid the auditors £15k just to tell me this was all correct !!!!
