I have been with Virgin Media since broadband came into being but they recently ditched us and passed us onto Talk Talk. TT have now decided that they don't wish to continue with rural broadband and have moved us over to Fleur Telecom (?) and I have had many problems with email hacks and internet drop outs - it's like going back to the dark ages - but with no cable access living where I do, we have very little choice
If you want an email account I can give you a sportsmaserati.com one for free if you want.
I am on virgin too and could not log pick up the site at all last night
All I got was "The server is not responding"
But now I take it you can?
Can you keep a mental log of when this happens, if it's during peak times it's probably down to over demand at your ISP/Virgin.
It is only virgin customers that are affected.
I don't get 3 or 4G in the house, my Vodafone package is enabled and the phone works a treat in the appropriate areas, just not at home.
I can live with the lack of speed but the email hack and emails not being received was a real issue. I have just switched to Gmail and so far, so good
Have you checked who else will supply ADSL Stuart? I only recently was able to upgrade from a grim 1.5M to 20M in the village, with no changes to any of the local BT infrastructure other than some snazzy cards in the exchange box about 9km away. Neighbour was on BT, told by them it wasn't possible to upgrade... His phone cable comes from the very same pole as mine. A call to PlusNet and he's now getting 18M in his house. Result!
I wouldn't even know where to start as I have never looked into it - something to add to my to do list
I get many periods of SM 'server not responding' Matt, from the PlusNet connection in Lincs, the EE 3G/4G phone and Orange ADSL in the Alps. Not sure it's limited to just Virgin customers.
Agree with you there, although the uplink could be quicker, Yeti gets 20 up.That's excellent! Used to have Virgin at the house in Yorkshire, after they took over the NTL franchise. Couldn't fault it - solid service, similarly high speeds, worked well. Sadly no cable or fibre close enough to this place to get that sort of speed, but the 20M will do.
As an aside, when I opened the account in the Alps, the service provider was deeply ashamed at only being able to provide an 80M service... Deeply ashamed. Try telling that to BT.
