When I've had the Ghibli as a courtesy car, I found the infotainment system to be excellent - full postcode sat nav, touch screen, DAB, decent sound.

You should get yourself into a 2008 GTS and you would really be complaining!

I don't doubt it. My gripe is that coming from BMW and Audi's and having had a new C Class and CLS on test, the Commodore 64 graphics and the lack of any online connectivity on the Ghibli MTC just don't cut it.

I bought mine because of the way it looks, drives and sounds, not as a mobile office. Mine has more technology than I need, but what I need ie phone, radio, satnav, works perfectly for me.

I too have no complaints with the MTC system. The touch screen makes it easy to use, and all the functions are intuitive. I was recently using the mouse based system in a friends new Lexus, and how you would operate that whole driving would seem to be all but impossible. I also fail to understand the importance of being 'online and connected'. My Ghibli has the Siri connection which allows me to verbally send and receive text messages, much beyond that I can't imagine what else I could use.
My other car, a Renault Zoë has access to online services and apps. The only app I have is the free weather channel, for anytjng else I could stop the car and use my phone, which is a lot safer.

To sell more cars Maserati does have to up its game with technology, hence the 2017MY changes.

Personally the nav on my GranTurismo works fine and I have no interest in lane departure, autonomous braking etc etc. I like to think I like tech but I don't need loads of it in cars. In fact the thing that irritates me most about the Ghibli is that it kicks down to 6th in manual mode in 8th. Even my Disco with the same box does not do that. It's a pain on the motorway and unnecessary.

Overall a lot of us who are loyal Maserati customers buy the cars for very different reasons to the conquest customers that Maserati now needs....I'm a dinosaur.

There are a couple of things on the Audi I'd like, but are not exactly deal breakers.

Auto folding mirrors when you lock the car.
Reversing cameras with the little lines
Power boot and lock button in the boot
Keyless entry is nice as well

None of the rest of it has massive interest to me.

For me, it's not about the apps or the control interface (although touchscreens have their own drawbacks). I don't use apps either.

I want to be able to search for a destination on the nav using google, I also want to be able to use "Send to Car" and I want my album art to update dynamically or be read from the MP3 files. I also want a higher resolution screen. I get that a lot of folk are perfectly happy with the MTC but it's dated and doesn't look very nice in comparison to the competition that they built this car to attack. The fact that they've invested in a new unit tells us as much.

As Bigbob says, I'm not a lifelong Maserati fan but having had the Ghibli, if they sort the MTC I could see myself in another (petrol) one or a Levante.
