Getting all nostalgic here as for the first time in 7 years I am not takeing my annual homage to the Loire region for a dose of octane.
Ok we are all off on the Classics in a couple of weeks time but it will be a very strange feeling to watch this on the telly.
So why is it so good?
Over the years I have been to many Motorsport events, F1's, touring cars, NEC shows, track days, classic car shows......the list goes on.
Le Mans is the one that blows all the others into the weeds for me. I think is a combination of many things that makes it so special.
I love France, the food and the people. Some give the French a hard time, stories of them being arrogant, but I find them fiercely patriotic, which should be commended and I wish the UK was more like it.
The food, the French, like the Italians and the Greeks can make simplest of food a culinary delight. How they make bread, ham and cheese taste so wonderful is beyond me.
The English abroad, ok some see it as jobbish, me, I see it as high spirited. We like a drink, we like to show off, we love our Motorsport. In all the years I have been there I have never seen any trouble, where at any other event, you add alcohol, the English and Europeans and it would more than likely turn into haste.
I have had some great memories over the years and made alot of new friends, so to all of the Le Mans virgins, your in for a h3ll of a ride.
