Ok, we’ve dealt together so we trust each other.
Sm poster as of now.
Bought,not paid up etc.

That’s great no problem, I reckon at least 6-7 people on here will have one, two who’ll be cash buyers, and depending on the price, there could be more. Let’s draw a line from 12 months after the first U.K. delivery. If no member owns one by then, I’ll send you a grand, if by then a forum member has one, I know I can trust you to reciprocate.

Let’s say 6months after the Uk delivery....split the timescale you suggested....a year after launch is a very long time.
If you agree, we’re go.

Forgot about the Ford GT. But isn't the GT a very limited numbers car and, well, it's Ford.

Would you want the comparison of an evocative name like Maserati to be in the same breath as a Ford?

Yeah you’re right I think they are only making a couple of thousand. But they retailed at more than twice the cost of the MC20.. And now they are swapping hands for about a million.. for a ford !!

However, you’re right. Comparing a ford to a Maserati is a cardinal sin, and i promise not to do it ever again !!

I just found it frustrating that looking at the general public’s opinions online it seems they don’t want to like it for some reason, I mean I personally don’t care what others think, but most seem to think it’s a parts bin special using old 4C chassis they found in the back room and the Alfa quad V6. And the ‘it looks a bit like this car’ comments.. you can do that with any new car, but most of the design cues look distinctively Maserati to me. MC12 esque front, with the classic front grill opening shape, the rear lights look like a longer flatter derivative from the GT’s rear lights and in turn similar to the levante, and the rear pillar to arch profile looks very maser to me too and I like the way the rear air vents aren’t as prominent as they are on other mid engined cars. If they slapped a prancing horse on the front Joe public would be frothing over it, but what I am really getting at is if you break it down to a sum of the parts, it’s easily on par with cars such as the Ford GT and some Ferrari’s and Mclaren’s but because it’s a Maserati people seem to want to pick holes in it. Personally I’d take my hat off to anyone producing a completely new platform and engine for this type of car in the current state of affairs the world is in.

Don't get me wrong, if I were given one I'd take it and drive the nuts off of it.
However, spec'd up it's a 200 grand car. For 200 large I want to be wowed!

I completely agree, when you’re spending that kind of money it needs to have that wow factor. But from looking at base spec list prices on google, it’s not really any less wow than anything in that sort of price bracket, according to google a Ferrari F8 starts at around £205k without options, McLaren 600LT is a similar base price at around £188k before options and a Lamborghini Huracan is a bit cheaper at around £165k before options. But rather boringly the 911 turbo S puts most things in that bracket to shame for even less than a Huracan (£156k before options) but that doesn’t even have a sprinkle of wow. Put against that bunch id probably go for it, it’s a much prettier car than those in my eyes, but as all on here I’m slightly biased. That said you’re probably much better off with a second hand 720S, Aventador, F12 ot something for some wow when spending that sort of money I reckon.

My local prices will be sent to me on Monday, but, if I understand correctly, in the UK the MC20 will be more than a Huracan?

If so, screw brand loyalty. The Huracan is unbeatable, sorted, nuts and has German reliability. The mc20 would need to cost 15 to 20% less to make sense to me.

It’s safe to say they are not aiming the car on the SM demographic! I’d estimate that at least 80% of the Masers on here to be worth less £25k each, so as a group we are hardly their target audience.
And how many “old” people want a low car that’s tricky to get in and out of that does 0-60 in under 3 secs? Not enough. So you need to appeal to a younger and more affluent audience.
Certainly, when I was more agile (in my thirties) and driving Lambos, that was when an MC20 would have been a good proposition for me. I can see some wealthy young Bloggers, Vloggers, Inflencers and other young techies loving this car, and I hope they do.

Cool. As the target demographic (minus the vloggy part, don't rock that ****), I'm happy to confirm that Maserati have targeted this pretty well.
