McLaren has certainly improved the looks and performance of the cars since the 12C. My choice would be the 570GT. There is a 570S for sale at the Bristol McLaren dealer and just looks lovely sat in the showroom. Your GT is rather lovely though my friend...Loved it the first time I saw the advert.
Agree on the 570GT.

You posting the HR Owen ad' gave me the final push on the GT - I owe you a beer :)

If you are in that market, the 12C is the way forward, it appears. You can get the electronics upgraded to 650S standard for relative pennies and it is likely to appreciate more as it was the first real McLaren after the F1. Also, there were fewer made than the 650S. A new 570S is a lower powered pretender without the hydraulic suspension.

I am sorry to saw, the 12c leaves me a bit cold. It may be a great investment but didn't you tell me Benny that they suffered terribly from electronic issues?

Seem to remember Benny saying that. I believe that this had benn sorted Matt. McLaren have a great way with its customers and they made a load of upgrades over the first years and most were given free to customers who had already bought the 12c ..... That included a power hike. Not many would do that. I get the cold piece Matt as although I like the 12C shape it is not an exciting car to look at as it should have been....but after driving one it certainly didn't leave me cold. personally I would go Spyder as it looks much better with the roof down and it's very rare indeed. Prices just don't seem to be moving down at all and really can't see that happening.

But I don't like the shape of the 12C at all.

The AMG C63 the noise is no where as good as the MC Shift! Also when I test drive one I thought the gear shifting was too perfect and uninvolving. But it was the first time I had ever driven a paddle shift. In the end I choose the Maserati.

Personally I prefer the look of a front engined coupe, mid engined cars leave me cold. Having driven an F12 I was hugely impressed, that's where I would park my ££ if I could justify it.

As for the 12C I can understand the logic in buying one of those. A used car will always depreciate less than a new one and I agree that it could perform well, price wise, long term.

When new, that were pretty dreadful but most of the gremlins seem to have been ironed out. The problem was they released the car too early in trying to compete with the 458 and reliability was compromised. They still have issues though; if you open the doors on a cold, frosty morning the Windows can stick and when they don't drop, the glass shatters because the doors swing out and up. The carbon brake discs, apparently, don't fare well on track and when they give up it costs £10k to replace them. The steels discs are better. The battery is gel and if you get a jump start you run the risk of frying it; £2400 for a new one.
