Just seen the advert and never thought anything of them but then it suddenly struck me that you could dry a car with one. Any thoughts?

I'm sure there was a gadget that did just that. I'm old school though, plus hate washing cars, so it would be lost on me anyway.

Same as using a squeegee, surely? Any particles trapped between the blade and the paint will be dragged along.

The only thing (AFAIK) the Karcher does is stop your window sills and floors from getting wet.

These are awsome gadgets and are great for removing condensation from cars etc
But also for cleaning inside the car windows, is especially front screen.

Sure there is another thread on this Matt. Think Adam had something to do with it.

Ditto catman's comments - and the container for collecting the water would need constant emptying

Looks kind of unnecessary. We looked at a big rack of them in B&Q the other day and concluded that one would just add to the clutter.

We have one for the house windows... it's OK but smears if the collected warer is dirty... so no better than a traditional rubber blade, except for collection of water.

Its shape also prevents you getting to the bottom/side of the window if there is a large recess,

It's great for collecting condensation but can be smeary if you're not careful. The water container needs emptying pretty often (which I guess is a good thing!) and it's awkward to get into corners. It does windows (and granite worktops) well but I wouldn't want to use it on the car.

what you need is one of these, leaf blower come car drier, superb at blowing all the excess water away after a wash

I have a water softener in the house. The water in Suffolk is amongst the worst in the UK tbh....
I use the soft water and the 2 bucket method with a microfibre handmitt. And a microfibre cloth ( or two) for drying...Not pro level detailing but the polymer Netshield does create impressive beading and runoff...
I got a free Karcher window vac with a home insurance policy some years ago. Seems like a bit of a "gadget" . Never used it...!

I wouldn't run one of those Karchers over my car. The blade will pick up dirt and you'll be scratching it before you know it. Works well on windows and we have a glass dining table that it's fine on too.

we bought one on a whim a couple of weeks ago - the WV5 premium from the karaccher outlet store - £50 instead of £80, its ok, but as everyone has said, can smear, ive not used it on the car and probably wouldnt, the curves of the glass would be a struggle, but for the house windows... ive done them all and they are all better than before I did them! so i think it will cover its cost as opposed to paying someone to wash the glass.

all in, the best part is not the vac, but the squirty bottle with built in scrubby!

I had one of the Karcher Hard Floor cleaners....in fact I actually had 2.....first time I bought the brand and they both broke and I eventually took a refund.
Totally unimpressed and as a result i've just bought an ordinary extendable pole squeegie and microfibre.
Great clean window result. Sometimes I think the old technology is better
cheers Wattie

Now that makes sense as I hate that stream of water you get after wash and drive off as you can get to it. May try that.....need a leaf blower first though.

The trick surely is not blowing a load of dust and dirt back on to the car. And if you need to clear leaves as well you're going to need two!
