Hi everyone,

I joined the forum yesterday and am enjoying Maserati ownership for the first time.

Hailing from Romford, Essex and the very proud owner of a 03 blue 4200 Cambiocorsa.

Thanks to good reserch before buying and previously owning many Italian cars I'm prepared for the pain to come!

Cheers,

2b1ask1

Hi, I has an Alfa Sud back in the 80's great little car that stuck like the perverbial but just rusted almost as quickly as it depreciated! 88-99 I had a series of fiats from Uno to Regatta and even the dreaded Ulysses (ughh!). Followed this by a long period restoring an old 123 230E Merc' not Italian I know but still a labour of love...

Hey there 2b1ask1 and congratulations on your new car

Maserati ownership does not have to be full of woe and hopefully you have bought yourself a peach and not a lemon. We look forward to seeing the car and will always be on hand to help should help be needed. Perhaps you may consider joining us at our next meeting at the Ace Cafe

Sounds like you have been through a few cars, I bought myself a 2002 fiat stilo today just for a run around only 27k miles 1.2 will be a bit slower than the 4200.

Hi 2b1ask1, Hope you got my message and I'm pleased you've posted here. You have no idea what you've let yourself in for. Pandora's box and all that. :) So just to add my welcome to those who've posted above. Hope you'll give us more details on your car and contribute to the forum? Regards, Miles.

Oh by the way, we have a Christmas meet in the planning for 11th December. You're not too far distant and you'd be most welcome to join us? It's the top thread in the events section.

Mechanically my Mas' is in great shape and has always been looked after. I have had to rebuild the handbrake as I have a sloped drive and it wouldn't hold. I found 1 1/2 shoes detatched. That is all sorted now. I've sorted the rapid battery drain out by removing the redundent tracker that was screaming a constant but unheard alert and also had a dead battery.

The car started it's life in Exeter but rapidly passed through two owners, at 11k it was bought by the third and lived in East Anglia. It also lived during the day on an industrial estate and was put through car washes regularly. I took the car on at 44k and having been a vehicle detailler in the past I know what I'm letting myself in for... There are some scratches I will have to admit defeat on and I will be getting the roof, O/S front wing , mirrors and front bumper resprayed over winter. I have so far removed all of the fallout from the paint and recovered to about 95% condition but I can still see the major swirls and imperfections. I'm not too fussed about it being a concours car as I bought it to drive, I've done just shy of 2k already and have started to play with the paddles, sports and loud buttons! Just awsome....

My eldest son is at uni in Cambridge and studying photography - His next assignment calls for some interesting shots so we plan to do some this weekend involving the car, industrial units, night time and some angle grinder sparks!

So Photo's are coming...

typical italian cars ownership that...love at 1st then reality sets in

Thats awfully....awfully harsh Dem........................;).......only for the info put on here etc...then most of us wouldn't have truly known just what to expect....plus ways around certain problems plus support and opinions......and there there is cameraderie in adversity....:)
