Hello chaps!

I'm finally back in Dubai and just got my car booked at a local Porsche specialist, who has a solid reputation for wheel refinishing, to work on my car next week. I'll be sending over to them the Mercury gray paint code Matt mentioned in my other "wheels" thread. Hope I don't regret it!!! :worried1:

Separately, thanks to Loz for showing me how to replace the F1 pump relay (done!) and a nice little surprise is that my A/C now blows cold air despite the faulty external temp sensor saying that it is freezing in Dubai!!! (looks like the battery reset did the trick!) :auto14:

Another nice surprise is that my mirrors now dip when I go into reverse (previously would just dance around and come back to original position)...cold this be related to the battery reset as well???

As for the interior rear quarter panels...Eurospares told me that they have been pushed out to week 40 (!!!)...and that was a month ago!!! Will be well worth it, as I'm not pleased with the state they are in now (Vinyl has peeled right off on one of them due to heat).

Aside from some sticky A/C knobs and flaked chrome rings (knobs will be stripped and re-painted and rings to be replaced), I'm happy to report that the GS is running strong and continues to turn lots of heads and put a big grin on my face! I'm at 26k miles and my clutch hasn't given out yet (hope I didn't just jinx myself!)

Will keep you all posted.

Cheers,

JP

Sounds like things are moving on nicely...Look forward to seeing some pics if possible once your wheels are done.

All good stuff JP.

Regarding the wheels, the code I gave you is good, but to be honest, I would go a few shades darker next time. It is the correct colour, but it matches the Grigio Alfieri body colour too much and hence does not stand off enough.

Go for an anthracite colour.

Matt, I agree with you re: Grigio Alfieri...saw a couple on Pistonheads and it all just blends too much.

Since my car has the lighter hued and champagne hinted Grigio Nuvolari paint, I think the contrast is a little more pronounced. See below. Let me know what you think.

JP, then that will work fine, I thought we both had the same colour, obviously not.

Same colour as mine JP, so Mercury would be fine, though the anthracite is only a few shades darker and so would look okay as well. Choices, choices...

Thanks gents...I am also going to try and ask the wheel pros if they can do the below treatment to my existing wheel caps (also ordered new Mercury ones from Europares as a backup). Thoughts?

JP, your car looks like what mine would want to be when it grows up, except that your car is actually younger, but you get the point, hopefully. Absolutely stunning, I want one!
