Jaguar Land Rover are going to bed with Chery so that's all going to be Chinese so I'm definitely keeping my Coventry built straight 6.

Stopped at one of my normal pit stops to top up the hybrid whilst I have lunch.

12 TESLA Super Chargers and 20 Destination chargers... every one in use.

BYD (Chinese brand of EV’s) has overtaken Tesla as the biggest supplier. Tesla has the problem of boring and aging designs, with nothing new coming to tempt buyers. China is bringing in new models and at lower prices, so sells more. So as usual, it’s not rocket science, it’s just common sense business principles.
We‘ll all be seeing a lot more electric BYD and MG vehicles in the U.K. over the next few years.
And others. Nio have a very pretty line up and have launched in Europe with a UK office already here. Some the Chinese designs are hideous but only in the same design league as the latest BMW for example. Like it or not they’ve caught the European makers on the hop, the only thing left for the EU to stem the tide is import taxes / tariff/ investigation, which I recall an article recently saying was gaining traction .BYD will also do well as they have a range that hits a price point for junior company car users, such as entry level reps with some companies having 500 cars just for this level.

Whilst not a pure EV but a Hybrid, I am considering changing my six year old daily driver, a DS3 Auto for the new MG3 HYBRID.
This car which is about to go on sale just can't be beaten for value for money. The top of the range Trophy model comes fully loaded including ACC LKA 360° Camera, heated steering wheel and front seats, and the list goes on...
It has a 0-60 of 8 secs, with a claimed 64mpg. Even with discounts an equivalent euro super mini would be thousands more, and unlike first gen Chinese cars, this latest MG3 it's an attractive and well built car with an unbeatable seven year warranty!
Why would you look at an oh so boring Polo etc, when in this case an MG has it comprehensively beaten. Even the brand name carries creditability...
At the Geneva show, MG or its parent SAIC showed a large 5 metre EV saloon which was badged as an MG9. If the MG brand in Europe could continue its upward trend, I could see that car mixing with Mercedes etc very well. It certainly looked as good as Lotus's new EV saloon the Emeya, which also designed and developed chiely in China comes in at a gargantuan 5.1 metres in length!
Finally, and whilst this is an EV, albeit from Korea, as I've said many times, my Genesis Electrified G80 after 21 months of ownership still represents the best car I've owned! It just seems to me that too many of the usual European suspects have been caught napping, confident in the belief that particularly in the premium sector their position was untouchable.
How long before these established German brands realise there is a big threat from the far east!!

All these Chinese EV's flooding the market is going to make espionage easy for them with all the Telematics in them.
Will certainly keep GCHQ busy.

Yeah I have been reading similar articles of late, and also some articles that International ports are getting over clogged with unsold vehicles to the detriment of other cargo storage operations, unlike Tesla BKD and the other Chinese EV manufacturers have no retail outlets and are reliant on selling unknown brands through 3rd parties with no or next to no sales backup , I have a sneaky feeling that the west is going to dump the EV transition and leave China holding the baby with its stocks piled high and production totally geared up for a monopoly thats never going to happen ..........sit back folks and grab the pop corn

Given that you:

A) More than likely wrote this post on a device manufactured in China
B) That device probably listens to what you say
C) the device knows where you are and where you are going
D) As you are in France, it could be transmitted through a modem made or designed in China

I think it is fair to say that the Chinese authorities don’t need you to buy an EV know what you had for breakfast and that you don’t like cars motivated by electricity.

The addition of a few electric cars is not going to meaningfully move the espionage dial, I would suggest.

Appears to me the younger generations for all there abilities to manipulate smart phones, Xboxes and laptops learned so proficiently at school would also have understood in their history lessons the tactics employed by Helen of Troy , particularly seeing as one of the main strategies employed used a method that similarly attacks their very same consoles. Hindsight is a wonderful thing , but tends to imply that something significant happened whilst people were sleeping and going about there business totally unaware their situation was being undermined ..........I see it as history repeating itself on a grand scale and those employed to protect us should wake up to the fact.

Tarifs is a rough one. BYD is heavily financed by China with the express intention of nobbling Tesla. The quality of their cars is almost on a par with Merc/BMW/etc. Just some subtle tweaks - fabrics, maybe some more padding behind the interior trim items such as door cards - and they'll be there.

Let's face it, it wouldn't take the smartest device to figure out that Phil lives in France, isn't a big fan of technology (or the years since 1970) and works on the spanners.

It's not myself I'm worried about as for the rest of my life I won't be changing.
Today I'm doing a bit more on my 80's technology.FB_IMG_1713427353409.jpg

I'd say in Phils defence thats subjective , technology tends to mean improvement and innovation ,if you call having 60% of the worlds population addicted and immersed for 20% of their day on so called smartphones watching manufactured garbage improvement and innovation "then we are are doomed" when mature adults dont recognise that as not healthy we really are lost and in my view supports those like me and Phil that want to step back a bit and appreciate a period in life where things weren't quite like that
