Hello, new member here based in London looking for an early Granturismo; admired them since they came out, and now looking for a nice private purchase.
I am drawn to dark cars with contrast interior but not sure how the second hand market treats certain colour schemes.

Called about a great looking car this morning to be told it sold last week, then found the same car at a dealer for £4k more so looks like I will have to be quick on the draw!

JJ, welcome! It seems to getting a bit like that at the moment; you snooze, you lose. Beat of luck with your search.

I absolutely don't mind a dealer making their margin, don't get me wrong.

Its just that this is a 6-8month plan, and if I can buy well privately as I have done with a fair few specialist cars I have bought in the past it should limit the potential pain!

Welcome.

Dark outside, light inside sells the best.

If you do no more than 6000 miles PA then the cars are on two year service intervals - the big ones are at 4 and 8 years.

Check brakes and tyres if you want to run for a short time and then pass on.

Wecome JJ,

I'm a new member myself and can tell you that you have come to the right place for advice. Picked up my first Maserati today in Dark Blue with Cream / Dark blue contrasting interior which I think is great combo (but then I would say that)!

On dealer mark up, it's true, it would be nice to avoid these, but make sure everything is tip top if you are buying privately. My car is relatively young in miles and years, but there are quite a few items that the dealer has looked after which would have passed me by privately but would have proved costly to me had they not been taken care of. 4th year service is one of them as mentioned by bigbob

Hi JJ,
Best of Luck with your search, private is good, but for a few hundred pounds it would be wise to get an Independent Inspection done by a Specialist, they are listed on here, it could save you money by spotting something..!! Welcome to the forum..!!

6 year service is a 2 year service and 8 year service is a 4 year service. 10 year is a 2 year plus spark plugs IIRC.

Welcome, the place does draw you in with the right balance of technical assistance and humorous banter.

As the Eagles once said "You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave"

Mine was a private deal and nothing wrong with it when purchased. I rather save the mark up in a war chest and use if required
