After a month of ownership, I think I have managed to find my way around the car (03 4200) and have even mastered silky and consistent camboicorsa gearshifts! I was really unsure about this gearbox during my first drive but I now think it's great.
A couple of questions.
1) Without wanting to open a can of worms, is there any broad consensus on tyres? I will have a requirement for a set very soon at this rate and as the Maserati is noticably heavier than my previous cars, what I had previously considered to be ideal tyres for the job may be somewhat irrelevant in this instance.
2) I only got one key with the car. Do I need to go to a main dealer with all the usual bits and pieces to get a new one or will the indies be able to help whilst it's in for servicing? Any ideas on cost though? Somehow I expect it to be horrendous.
I absolutely adore everything about this car, with the exception of the god awful audio/sat nav/aircon NIT thing. What were they thinking? I appreciate that the car is now 10 years old but it hardly screams quality, has dated badly and is far from being futureproof or easily upgradeable. I believe from reading posts in this forum that it is central to many functions and as such cannot just be ripped out and replaced with something reasonable so I decided to make the best of a bad situation.
I ordered a kit from the US on ebay which piggy backs onto the NIT/CD/SatNav drive between the front seats so I can now play music and charge my iPhone and iPad. It arrived within 5 days and for 65 quid, I'm pleased with the result. It took about 30 minutes to fit as I had to remove the centre console due to the plug I needed access to being on the bottom of the NIT
It's is neat enough as I can stow my device in the centre console. Maybe I'm just easily impressed.
