And it’ll continue upwards for a while. Gold investors always profit from war, or any other catastrophic event that shifts normal economic activity.
But as ever, it’s knowing when to back out that matters, as it’ll fall again at the first sniff of normality, when everyone wants to pile back into the stocks that are being suppressed by the war.

Normality?
Rising interest rates.
QE tapering.
Massive (non transitory) inflation about to get worse through sanctions, energy, oil, wheat.
A 0.5% rate rise isn’t going to dent 7.5% inflation…
Russian debt default…
Oh and then there’s the next Covid scariant….
Taiwan…..

Only fallen 3 times in 16 years.

Looking at the UK gold price per ounce, from a high in the summer of 2011, it took until the summer 2019 to get back to that point. It then grew nicely to the summer of 2020, dipped again, but has now regained that lost ground. Right now, it's certainly a good place to have some savings. I suspect that for gold, the only way is up, for at least the next few months. But just like all investments, it's all about getting in and out at the right time. Said Finbar Saunders.

(By "normal", I simply mean a World not primarily concerned about the war in Ukraine and the issues regarding oil, gas and wheat trading with Russia. I'm assuming we'll get past this crises somehow.)

So I have been looking at investing in gold for a long term investment, but where to buy it, any recommendations for genuine online bullion dealers.

While spending a good few hours with my favourite tattoo artist today we discussed XRP as an investment. I’m thinking of chucking a few quid towards them. Anyone know anything about this one?

I’d say XRP is a gamble rather than an investment. If you can see what it has that will make it worth more in the future than it is now then perhaps I’m wrong.

Lots of people have made money gambling on Crypto but more have lost.

XRP is a controversial investment at present. They stand to replace SWIFT within the international banking industry which would be HUGE! BUT they are not out of their fight with the SEC yet. Very recent rumours are that, behind the scenes, the SEC has thrown in the towel on this one, so it could be a really good bet. But owing to the unstable situation in the world at the moment, crypto is struggling. Personally I’m confident of the long-term outlook, but you may have to be patient

If it makes you rich, you’ll have to ask your friend to add one of these

I’d love some Gold Wattie. Just let me know what the order value is to qualify for free shipping to the UK :)
