Increased volume Gransport Rear Boxes

I wonder has anyone done a comparison the internals of the different muffler designs (e.g.. Tubi/Larini/Supersprint etc) to understand what creates the different "tuned" sounds?

It's a fascinating topic, and i'd like to know what makes Tubi deeper and Larini higher pitched for example...

My theory; Ferraris sound like F1 cars because they use smaller diameter pipe. This causes the gasses to exit it at higher speed (Bernoullis theorem) which causes more shear between exhaust gasses and the outside air, resulting in a higher tone and the trademark rasp. The bigger the pipe the lower the sound.

Sounds perfectly reasonable Ian, the 50's racers tended to have fish tails or megaphones on the end to really pull the gasses through too... :)

I have not had a good look at it yet but it appears the rear boxes have been set to open, manually, probably wired I would suspect, and no, its not loud enough!

Be great if I could have a listen on the 29th. Wonder if anyone has straight throughs is coming.

Ill get Benny to move his car round on his drive in Cheshire, it might be 200 miles away, but believe me, you'll hear it!

Not wanting to offend but I think the GS volume in sport mode is quite loud enough for city use. Altering the pipes will ruin the lovely engine sound the GS makes and is not something I would like. Others might point ou that it's childish to shout "look at me" ... It's your choice -but think about it -please?

Cheers

No offence taken however the increase in volume is purely for my pleasure. Why silence such a wonderful noise. Maserati have raised the volume of their cars since the Gransport as evidenced by the GTS which is probably the modern equivalent. I think a fair proportion of members have enhanced their GS and 4200 due to the engine being too muted in standard form.
