Wow had a real facinating time reading the above , betwixt views but great to see Mark and his family following their dreams , little in the Uk in the way of dreams to be had at the moment , and the forseeable future for that matter .....so go for it mate with our blessing , less stress longer health ,on the car front tho if the masser gives you as much as mine do me then it would be the last thing to go and i'd definately take the suggested themes , a day or two back in the uk seeing dad and an mot isn't the end of the world , also cheap left hooker runabouts can be had here for peanuts so that might be an option aswell , i know quite a few brits that live in France and most have kept UK cars as there runabouts , all the best mate

Warmest regards loz

Cheers Loz. "less stress longer health" is the incentive indeed. Also for my (nearly) 17 year old Son, opening up more opportunities for his future, another. Forward, back, spread, whatever he wants......

Re the Mas, yes inclined to keep it following some eye opening advice on here re cars that hadn't occurred to me, and speaking to a couple of others last couple of days. Also someone came out to have a look at the car, trying to look for something to pick on to reduce the already cheap "up for grabs" price, which there wasn't. It's all up together, perfect history, and as I've bestowed lots on it lately in new clutch, tyres, batery etc. Spoke to Woody, asked him how he copes with people spending 4 hours peering at a car without making a decision. Bought a line from 'lock stock' to mind..... "it's a deal, it's a steal, it's sale of the f*ckin century, in fact................ f*ck it Nick, I think I'll keep it"!

BTW, Loz....... good to have your pearls of wisdom back on board :D

Not sure where I'm going with this, but I'll give you €455 for those skis TT ;)

There is no doubt the 'consumer' culture and 'disposable' culture is less than the UK. One of my friends managed to sell a twenty year old fridge in Chamonix. A fridge which had seen twenty years' abuse in a rental apartment. I can't imagine anyone in the UK would have given a penny for it.

Well, (slightly belatedly because of a nasty bout of food poisoning!) took the Mas in to Dick Lovetts today for a rigorous inspection. Sadly, as a demon in my head was hoping something untoward would be discovered putting the 'soon to be new owner' off buying it, Paul Cotterell came out to find me comfortably soaking up the atmosphere of their nice new place, (and it is indeed an nice place!) to tell me it was given a clean bill of health and was "a truly excellent example of a face lifted 4200".
Gutted! So, the new owner, our new fella on here, 'Brendan', is to be the new owner. Apparently picking it up tomorrow :(

:(

Not sure how to feel at the mo

Overall....... all in a good cause. For the greater good and all that.

Since Brendan instructed DL's to do an inspection, I've used it pretty much every day, something I didn't do before, and only now realise what a great and truly capable and sensational 'daily driver' these are. Kind of wasted as an ownership experience as occasional use.
I'm going to truly miss this car, and having decided to get a Caterham 7 as a toy for messing around in on the smooth quiet French lanes, (plus my Son can get insurance on that!) am sure that the bug will get me sooner rather than later and will find me back in a Mas. A GTS next time I think..... or maybe Miles' MCV....... ;D

I'm giving myself two years................

....................and counting

Always so difficult to let go of something so beautyful... still regret doing it myself, in fact I think it was harder then letting the ex go!

Thanks Enzo, Dave and Loz. Seems not five minutes since I bought her which is the main problem. Haven't enjoyed her for long enough

The bigger picture is far more important Mark, I'm sure there will lots of opportunities for masser ownership again in the not too distant future :D

Agreed. (Actually had a discussion, which turned into a heated row over the Mas on Fathers Day, which very nearly could have ended up with the later as a better alternative! ;-) )

Absolutely Enzo.
Though saying that you do sound curiously like my wife....... which I'm sure you haven't been accused of very often, eh?! ;D

I presume that it's now in another rental further down the hill?

Haha, I'd better set the counter then aye Mark?

Congratulations on the sale, but appreciate it's a mixed blessing. Fortune favours the brave, so I reckon you'll be fine and looking at a Trident steering wheel in the not too distant.

Oh and just 'cos you've sold don't think you can be a stranger! Let us know how the plans progress?

Cheers, Miles.
