Can anyone help with a How to change a hub/speed sensor on the right rear ( hand brake) of 2006 GS.
The Indy with SD2 has said it is the RR. I have the new hub from Eurospares.
I can see how you can change a front hub from the rear of the disc rotor but not sure about the rear!
Thanks in anticipation.

I had mine changed last year. Having looked over it while it was on the ramp it is pretty much the same as the front with the exception of the drive shaft.

The process was:

Undo hub nut on CV joint (might need someone standing on the brakes to stop it turning)
Remove brake caliper and disc.
Strip hand brake shoes
Remove handbrake back plate
Undo 4 cap head bolts (one of mine was seized so corner of old hub was cut with an air saw.
Unplug sensor cable and unbolt stays if needed
Use three leg puller to pull hub off of the drive shaft.
Reassembly is reverse of removal. If new bolts are needed they can be replaced with standard high tensile cap heads. Thread lock on the hub bolts is recommended.

Good luck!

This is what's great about this forum, somebody in Earls Barton UK giving instructions to somebody in Melbourne AU

25 years ago it was all a secret , if it wasn't in a Haynes manual you were stuffed

Hi Matt, was this done on "the old girl". I have had a look at your rear brake rebuild ,and I assume if I followed this I should be right! I don't have a large 3 arm puller. I will go to our Tool Store and get one.

No it was on my current one. Yes the brake build will get you stripped down to the backing plate.

Push the centre cap out (from behind) of the wheel on the affected corner then loosen the hub but first. It will be easier with the weight of the car to push against.

Managed to follow your suggestions/advice. Nearly finished. Had to cut of one corner bolt! Right bottom one.
Also could not get at small screws inside bottom of hub holding old sensor cable. Not a lot of room between new cable and drive shaft! Thanks for advice.
One remaining Question ,what is the torque setting for the large nut that is at the end of drive shaft /hub?

Here is the 3200 half shaft torque settings, use the same for the 4200 I would imagine:

replacing the hub or just a speed sensor (ABS error)?
Replaced my speed sensor (phonic wheel) by pulling off the whole driveshaft. No need to remove the hub nut.
