How poor is the Italians at rust prevention?

Going over my QP 4.7 and the state of some bits is a total shock
This cheap **** black finish fails after a few years
The hole in the middle houses a clip to hold the front wheel arch liner on

More bits to order, shot blast to get rid of the rubbish factory coat and proper zink paint

Fasteners? All scrap. Swapped to zink.

Very typical on the QP V and GranTurismo. A pretty poor show by our favourite car manufacturer.

Check your front subframe carefully with a mirror as I have just changed one on a 07 registered QP V and its hours of labour and expensive parts.

Who have people used previously to apply the Dinitrol and what was the approx price. I can’t help but feel it’s a worthy investment. Ideally I’d want someone up north and on personal recommendation.

There only some minor tin plates which are easy and cheap to replace...but yes, they could do better.

On the plus side, the bodies are solid.

What do you mean by up north? I'm planning on going to see these guys in the next few months as I want it doing before next winter. No personal experience but you can be the Guinea pig if you want
The dinitrol site has a list of providers.

if you are anal like me I would defo sand blast and re paint and/or powder coat the new plate, whilst dinitrol is a good idea you still need to be sure that the existing paint is good and it seems that the paint used on these parts is sh1t and will still start to rust over time

Rust is the biggest enemy of cars on this platform. The e-coating on the subframes in particular is terrible.

It seems that it would be a good idea to get these cars coated with the wax type fluids, all the cavities and known areas that rust prematurely, I used to use waxoyl on all my classic cars many moons ago, if done properly it will preserve parts and steelwork, easy DIY job with hand spray pump or if you have a compressor you can get all the spray equipment cheap including the cavity injector lance, its not rocket science if you're hands on
