I'd like them to explain their pricing honestly........a pair of exactly same size /standard for any other car what.....£30-50 a pair?

P

Supply chain is a large factor of it.
We have no idea what Maserati are paying for that part (not to be confused with what the part is actually *worth*)
Then here is going to be an element of pricing to include the actual service element (that is real humans making you coffee etc etc).
Further we come to the exclusivity. Let's be fair, if you're in the market for a £100k plus car, there is a distinct possibility that you don't want every Tom, Dick or Harry to be *able* to have one as well.
Then we can add (possibly) an amount of gouging.

I wonder, at this point, given the manual intensity of production if a new Maserati actually makes the company a profit at all on the retail sale.

If Maserati sold just 308 cars in the UK last year then they need to make their money elsewhere. I regularly look aghast at the price of parts but what price exclusivity?

Don't doubt you but my NI tester did the front and back brake test on the rollers with no test drive, so they are not being consistent if nothing else.

Any contacts.......they have a metal sleeve threaded through which the bolts secures...I take it your mean polyurethane...aint they a bit stiff etc...?

P

Theres lots of different grades of stiffness,it might be worth a little investigation on how the arm works in compression under load.

JCT600 have always taken my QP out on the road for the brake test and this was confirmed by the person who does the MOT on my other cars (asked if my GTV had a LSD). Chap told me they have some device with a pendulum that they place on the floor of the car which measures braking g's. Did a quick google search and..

Don't want them putting your Masser in the rollers winding the LSD up not could we always get the car in the air first to check if it has a LSD fitted and if so take it out with the Tapley meter you don't need to go far to get the performance readings.

Similar problem with Alfa 166s, Alfa Romeo were charging in the hundreds until someone discovered the exact same bush is available to Merc owners at £12 each.

Its worth some one checking out some more of these items and getting alternative items......insanely priced items like this will end up putting these cars off the road.

Frank, I take it from the image:
attachment.php

that you have these items sitting at home?

Any way you can get along to a local motor factors ans see if they can match them up to anything else? Locally we have a factors called MOTEX and they have said on several occasions they will look to match any car parts I take in from their stock or reference material.

Somebody needs to make an app like Shazam for sourcing these parts. :)

I bet these bushes come from the same factory as the £12 Merc ones used on the Alfa 166. It's just a matter of finding them.

Forums such as this are great for cracking these puzzles.

Well.....I'm not an engineer......but some one needs to make proper measurements and then trawl through a few motor factors guys or those in the know and move it on, will bring them into mine and see if they can help to start things off
