Having no garage I just wondered how well the cars stand up to the elements, thinking of getting a car cover when I get one myself but not sure if I can be arsed as that will be a real faff every day.

cheers

Moi. Other cars in the garage. No problems with the snow etc last winter. Need to brake heavily to get rid of rust on discs mind. Always started first time, even at -5c.

I don't have any problems with snow either, I just work from home :D

Hi Sean,
I know ive only had my 4200cc for a matter of weeks but the only garage its been in is a Shell petrol station.
Im intending to use it everyday rain and shine but i will make a space in the garage at home as soon as the salt goes on the roads.
I think my motor looks just as good with the autumn dew on her first thing and when it rains the water just runs of in beads.
I think she would look good in a wet tee shirt if you know what i mean.
Phil.

I rented a lock-up garage to keep the spyder in. 2 reasons, I dont trust people not to damage it in passing & we dont have drives in our street so everybody parks with 2 wheels up on the pavement. as every household has more than 1 car they need an area longer than their frontage to park, I have 3 vehicles, both side nieghbours have 2, so there is not enough availeble parking space on our street.

Mine lives outside and is doing okay. Last winters snow did something strange to my windscreen seal turning it reddish brown and 'puckering' it at the corners, from which it's still recovering.

The scuttle panel is discoloured, though this can easily be revived and the screws that hold it in place are rusting, as are the wiper arms. These items aren't expensive to replace, which I'll do next spring.

A little bit of condensation on cold mornings is to be expected I guess, but mechanically it's coped without issue.

I drove my car throughout last winter, even during the heaviest of the snow, so I can imagine the road salt won't have done the underside any good, but I didn't see anything terrible last time it was up on a ramp.

The rubber seals on both screens did this on my 4200 last winter. A few of us talked about fixing it but mine was fine once the temperatures rose.

Turning brown struck me as strange but some of the interior plastics on mine look brown in strong sunlight. Perhaps that's why most of the interior is leather?

Does anybody dynotroll these days?

My 911 lives outside, wish it didn't, but two full garages and a daily dirver, just convenient i guess, though my discs look a little rusty at times...

Had the same prob with my 911 993 model, rusty rear discs......they failed in an MOT!

Not really beneficial until the car gets to a certain age....ie the galvanised panels, box sections begin to give it up.......but for non-galvanised a must!

Have always garaged my Masers. Chiefly to keep them mint and rust free, but also to keep them away from those idiots out there who think it is a good idea to run a key down the side of an expensive car.

FWIW, my 3200 started to show small signs of rust + bubbling after about 6 years. Not sure how more robust the 4200's are.

Not sure they are much better, heard several talking about bubbles near, under the rear lights and where the bumpers meet the body........
