Sure, but they're here now P, so surely any previous "reputation" they may have should be considered in the light of these fixes. If you pick a well cared for 3200 and spend a little (a relative term) to implement the fixes, you have a useable everyday junior supercar.

Agree and the later cars are excellent, earlier cars also can benefit from later fixes, lot's have done.

There are always dogs out there that nobody has bothered caring for, those are the ones to stay clear of, or buy really cheap and do work on.

An Interesting thread. After owning mine for a year and trouble free compared to others so far ( touch wood ) I have as you do continued to browse the classifieds in this price bracket ( 2000 model 3200 ) My question is.. For this budget what other comparison car is there out there that is an equal ? My personal favourite: Esprit. Yours ??

Model:

Price: ( Less than 15k )

Style and street cred:

Grin Factor: ( 1 = poor - 10 = :)

Paul, if you can buy one at the right price and the engine / gearbox are good, the rest can be attended to and you will still get a brilliant car for the money, it's just the buying price has to be right and a good indie inspection, or the world could come crashing down around your ears with the bills for a bad car. For the money and performance, there's not much comes close to the 3200.

Firstly, thanks to my brother Phil for starting the thread. Secondly, thanks to all that have posted helpful replies. You make the whole prospect of buying, owning and running a 3200 much less scary.

On balance, I think I still want a 3200 GTA. I love the boomerangs and the interior; as many of you have said, these are also the strong selling points to me.

A few of you have mentioned the mods that can be done to fix / improve the original car; e.g. throttle body. Can someone kindly list all of the these improvements so that I can be better informed.

I will keep looking for one that has been well looked after and loved. Trouble is, my redundancy money is burning a whole in my pocket. :) If anyone knows of any examples I should look at (for sale or maybe not yet for sale), please let me know. I will spend up to £12k for the right car.

Thanks all,

Simon.

Simon,
For around £12k you should get a good 3200 GTA, you would have to pay a little more for the GTA AC, which is a cracking car, but the GTA for that kind of money is worth it. Ask any questions you want as many times as you want, we will all try and help. Get an independent inspection on any car you are interested in before buying - important. The indies are listed on here.
