Last friday i had a great track ride in a great 3200.
Went and looked at one yesterday with good history and condition 2000 on a W plate.
Sounded great at idle but on road test the auto box defaulted to 3rd gear and into limp mode so did not realy get a proper drive on the road as opposed to Pauls last week.
The question is to previous owners of a 3200 who have moved on to a 4200 or GS would you have another 3200 that you could use as a daily like i use my 4200?
Not wanting to cause controversy as we all know the boomerangs are classic and the interiors are splendid.

I would only get a 3200 for the combi of turbo/V8 in sound as long as how the power is delivered.

4200 interior is much better than the 3200. Besides, i love to see boomorangs around, but not in my garage.

3200 interior is leather... all of it. 4200 is...not. My neighbours Honda doesn't have boomerangs

Interesting..I was only expressing personal thoughts Neil. My comment regarding interior were aimed at the seats mainly.

Yes, I would get one as the prices are small and engines are available.

Would I buy it over a GS, no.

Not to mention bonnet vents - so you can tell its a 3200 when its coming up behind you and confirmed when its passed you.

......almost an instant ban really.....................luckily the wind was blowing in the other direction.............;).................and that 56% of the Boomers LEDS had failed ....as normal so you couldn't tell it was a 3200 in the dark......;)

Thats what the rossers said to me "Is that a 3200 or 4200? (whilst sitting in the passenger seat, on the hard shoulder in an unmarked Focus RS) "3200" I reply proudly. "That'll be the one with TWO Turbochargers will it?"

"I thought 130mph is quite reasonable considering it is up hill at this point " - I didn't say that

Just waiting for Ian to come on and cause havoc.
Me I'm in the 4200 camp but my brother has his heart on getting a 3200 auto even after coming out for a thrash with me an accomplished driver in a 4200.

3200 is the purer sports car of the two.......the Phoenix car of the modern era......a lot of Maseratisti love it just for that...the other strong points are looks, style, ooommpphhhh from the twins......

Just ensure its sorted.....and as an everyday supercar there are no other contenders

If you get a good 3200 I don't see why it can't be a daily-use car. Prior to my AC I had two 3200s, both of which were my only car.

Re 3200 vs 4200, it's been done to death, but I owned both at the same time so got to drive them back to back over a year or so. The 4200 isn't as good as a 3200 in my opinion.... in terms of how it feels to drive, the quality of the interior, the looks or how 'special' it feels. Appreciate that everyone likes different things though!

I also preferred my manual 3200s to my auto 3200, so I may be in a minority with my Maserati views!

I would view this as can you live with a 3200 as easy as a 4200?

Given the number of posts re 3200 problems I would have to say the 4200 would give you an easier time on your hair or wallet.

Yes a good 3200 that is perfect can be as good as any 4200, but the number of 3200's with issues is double if not triple the 4200.

In fairness though the majority of those refer to the same few issues... throttle body pedal pot, knock sensors and lambdas. There are good fixes for all these issues which are permanent or long lasting. The general italian electrics issue is common to all our cars.

I've had my car for 2 1/2 years as a daily driver and it's never left me stranded.

Ok, I think I had a bad run with my 3200.

If you take the agro factor that I suffered, yes, its is a more special/savage drive, but the chassis was most definatley not up to the power, The 4200 or more so the GS is better engineered and balanced IMHO.

If its adrenaline your after and to scare yourself on a daily basis, buy a 3200 Manual AC.

Performance figures, well, the 3200 does feel much faster, but actually its not. I cant quite work out why this is, but it is.
