...or play Russian roulette with an automatic. I would've have bought a 3200 but then Maserati improved it and made the 4200. I see no need to go back especially as they never took the roof off a 3200. The fire brigade probably have but that doesn't count.

The sound Dem. Turbos smooth out the pulses in the exhaust and it take the edge of the classic V8 sound. I would also suggest the suspension in the 4200 and GS is improved over the 3200 as well and the brakes are no worse either.

4200 is only quicker higher much higher in the rev band, and on some tracks a standard 3200 is quicker than a 4200 such as hockenheim short
3200 = 1.18.4
4200cc = 1.19.2
takenn from fastestlaps
(an 3200 ac would be quicker still)

Interesting..!!
Having both a very well sorted 3200 AC Auto and a 4200 CC, if I am honest they both have really good characteristics. The 3200 is manic when the turbo's spool up, but I suppose by then the 4200 has a slight head start, having slightly more power at the initial take off. Both interiors are excellent, both have good brakes, both have great roadholding and cornering ability. The 4200 (facelift) has excellent stability at any speed and if anything feels slightly better planted on the road at high speed than the 3200, only slightly. It depends on the year of each model I suppose and if you step up to a GS then it is a slightly unfair comparison. The later the car for each model, the better the performance is overall. I love driving both as they have differences which you can enjoy.
At the end of the day if you can drive well and quick, you will find a way to make any car sing an excellent tune.
I would have one as a daily car, no question.

It all depends on what sort of engine you have, you can have a 7.2 ltr engine that only revs to say 3.5k, it will pull but will not make anything fast, a small high reving engine can go like the clappers..??

Lambourghini make generators, I installed a V12 24 litre back up generator a few years ago
It had a four cylinder petrol engine as a starter motor.

Sounded fantastic on start up (two turbo chargers as well) - shame it ran on diesel max rpm was 1500.
