So following Matts excellent instructions on how to ease the wiper assembly & motor I have once again the ability to see! Thanks Matt!! And while the scuttle & associated trim was off I thought it would be a good time to give it a alcohol wipe off, soft key with some wire wool & a brand new soft satin respray; looks fantatic!! Just got it all back together and.....

Started reading about how to cure the wet drivers footwell (also courtesy of mr conaero!) and the lot will be back off again at the weekend...... At least it's a legitimate excuse for a test drive afterward ..... Kind of!!

Snowflakes, I was looking at doing mine next time they come off. Seems a wonderfully cheap way to improve the looks :)

The difference it's made immediately was huge - took some photos to post but they didn't come out well given the weather :-( but recommend it to anyone! I gave it about 7 light dustings of acrylic so it didn't get too wet & run or aPply too mug solvent & risk melting the plastic! Simple, cheap but a great difference!

What exactly did you do that improved the looks?

Re-sprayed the scuttle plasitc and trim that sits below the windscreen. It seems, as with many black plastics, to fade quite badly. Mine is now a sort of mid-grey.

Hi there

My stuff looks a bit 'grey' too and could do with a bit of a respray but with my inability to seemingly touch anything without breaking it, is there an idiot's guide to removing all the stuff to repaint it or is it just a question of unscrewing things? Any pitfalls?
Cheers

Try this for starters:

http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/379-Wiper-Motor-Juddering-FIX?highlight=judder

I found most of the fixings and plastic pretty good quality, with very little of the brittleness that can happen with older plastics. Probably want to make sure you have all the tools to hand as well, and if you're going in that far, a new pollen filter may be a sensible drop in.

One of these may also be useful:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIPER-PUL...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3f21eadde7

I'd also suggest that as you put stuff back together, don't screw the fixings down tight individually. Get the parts on and lined up, then screw them down in stages. The car's tolerances are not the greatest and there is space for movement built in to the mounting technology.

If you're anywhere near me, happy to assist :)

Awesome thanks a lot for all that - really very much appreciated!!

I shall work my way through it in the near future.

Thanks for the offer of help and certainly I used to be near you (Braintree) but now not so much....Brisbane!! :)

LOL, I think I'd rather be in Brisabane :) I'm convinced Braintree is the second coldest place in the universe. Platform 2 of Ely station being the coldest.

Ha ha! I could quite agree with that. One of the (many) reasons why life over here is so sweet - no really cold winters and I don't miss those eternal waits on the commuter line one little bit!

Wrap up warm mate as I think the news is talking about another cold snap coming your way. Which reminds me - must turn the heating off in the pool as it's too warm at the moment :)

Cheers
