The short story;
It seems that the engine immobiliser is stopping my car from starting? I've tried the restart procedure (page 148 of the manual) but no luck. Any ideas of how to turn this immobiliser off?
The Long Story;
So I have been fitting a rear view camera onto my 2004 4200. Everything went fine. I then found that during fitting my battery had gone flat. I charged it and tried to restart the car. The cars lights on the dash went on (see attached pic) and it sounds like it has no petrol. It does have petrol.
The lights indicate that the immobiliser is stopping the engine restart. The hand book states that this may occur if you try to restart the car with the battery charger connected. Unfortunately I did do this! The restart procedure (page 148 of the manual) says that if the CODE warning light is on permanently and the EOBD light is on but switches off for 4 seconds then turns on again it is the deactivation of the engine immobilizer. However, my EOBD light stays on permanently.
My OBD2 reader states there are no problems with the car. I'm guessing it's not the rear view camera causing the problems as it was connected to the reversing light so should have not had a major impact on the ECU. It was probably the restarting with the battery charger that has immobilised the engine?
Any ideas of how to restart her? Turn off the engine Immobiliser (without spending £1000 at a Maserati authorised dealer!)?
