Hi everyone, I am the proud owner of a 2004 facelift 4200GT, one owner 23k miles. Ten days in falling in love with car and marque a bit more every day.

Though you do seem to be sensitive souls don't you.......just looked at this closed thread Ghibli-S-road-testin-EVO.

5 or 6 pages! I am a regular contributor to HPC the house crash price forum and we could get a good thirty pager going by shoehorning in any of these topics :

London v the rest of the country
Private enterprises v public sector employment
State v private education

Guess I will have to watch my p's and q's

Already learnt about the handbrake quirks of these lovely cars so thanks for that.

On that note like many on here I can wield a spanner and therefore I need some new brake shoes.

Where is the best place to source parts ? Initial list is brake shoes for the handbrake and a fog/ indicator cover lense since one is cracked.

Looking forward to enjoying this forum and thanks to the lads for setting up

welcome to the forum greg (that does sound a little schizophrenic!)
they are a warm bunch here with tons of knowledge. re parts, I'd start at europarts for a search but I'm sure a 42er will be along soon with better advice.

Welcome Greg.

I don't want to drag that thread up again but only 2 genuine members have been banned in nearly 5 years and 300k posts and the most recent chap was giving it large by PM which you would not have been party too.

Re your parts, handbrake shoes can be relined for £35 by Belfast Breaks, and Meridien and Dick Lovetts both give good discounts to forum members, just mention this and you will be amazed as they will easily beat Eurospares prices.

Welcome Greg. From the time of your post it looks like you could be a member of the early riser club on here - the good morning thread appears to have a competition of who is up the earliest.

Plenty of great helpful info on here for our cars and lots of events/meets all over the country you may wish to attend. Please post some pics of your new purchase so we can all enjoy looking at her.

I think Nicos should be disqualified for being in foreign parts ;) So that leave AndyK and me, and sometimes some others :D

Hey Mate! I'm up and about and in the sun before I post, and not always one time zone ahead as well you know - surely that counts to issue 'Good morning greetings' before I head off to the airport. No airports today though...

Oh yes, Welcome Greg!

Hi Greg and welcome to the madness! Cleaning and careful adjustment is the secret to a decent handbrake on these motors providing all the bits are in decent nick. I find it helps if you apply the handbrake for a few seconds when you are driving as it keeps the friction surface inside the drum clear of rust. Otherwise you get a build up of shiny rust which doesn't have a great co-efficient of friction. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
