Hello fellow Maserati owners.
I'm from Vancouver, BC, Canada and also have a place in Arizona. I just bought my first Maserati, a 2005 Coupe Cambiocorsa with 29,000 miles on it. All was well until yesterday morning when it would not start at all. Check Engine and CC lights were on. Got it towed to Scottsdale Maserati and by the end of the day, the verdict was that the F1 sensor was filled with oil and when they cleaned it up, the car started fine. The dealer told me that they think it is the throw out bearing that was the culprit in leaking oil into the sensor. This being my first Maserati and Cambiocorsa, I am not very familiar with the system and possible problems although I have read a fair bit about the CC.
So, here I am asking for your input and suggestions...Has any of you had a similar problem? One of the members from the Maseratilife forum suggested that I join this forum as well to look for some feedback.
Cheers & thank you.

Welcome.

Not heard about that type of fault... I would have suggested low power in the battery.

Random warning lights suggest a power problem but a dying battery usually brings on the ABS and MSP lights first. It could also be 'Italian character' so drive the car, and as long as it works, enjoy it. I'm aware this might sound a bit stupid but stick with and you will come to realise Italian cars are divas with a malignant personality!

Actually, the lights were not random, and I recharged the battery, tried with booster and no luck. So it is definitely not the battery. The diagnosis showed hard error for F1 sensor.

Definitely an unusual one for sure. Even the guys here haven't seen it. Hopefully voicey will chip in, or PM Craig Waterman on Maserati life

The latest is that they will replace the throw out bearing, F1 sensor and the sensor bracket this coming week. $4,000...yack. The clutch has 60% life left in it so I'm going to leave it alone.
On another note, I've been looking at Bluetooth ODB II readers and would appreciate recommendations for the 2005 Coupe CC (4200 GT). Thanks.

Hmm, I'd think carefully about not getting the clutch replaced. Check the additional cost.

As for ODBII, you're out of luck. Just about any cheapo ($10) device from ebay will perform, but all you can get is standard ODBII stuff. If you want Maserati specific redaer you're looking at several (probably >10) thousands of dollars.

Never start Maseratis with a booster. If you do, you are quite likely to fry 1 or more of the computers. A body shop jump started mine and fried the infotainment centre and my DBW unit.

The F1 sensor is a solid state part and not in a position that it could be contaminated by a leaking release bearing without other, far more serious, symptoms. Without knowing what the code was, it is hard to pass judgement on the cause of your woes.

If you're going to keep the car more than a couple of years then you'd be mad not to change the clutch and flywheel. Even if you plan to sell, it will be more attractive to a buyer with all the bits done "whilst you're there".
