Hello to this very special forum. My name is Kyriakos and im new to the forum...I own a Grigio Alfieri Metallic 02' Maserati Spyder with black interior since July 2010. Got it with 64000 Km on it. I say, i love this car so much that sometimes i think i become sick about it!! :) Im sure that this is the car i will keep for a long time and it is my second sport touring car after the Opel GT (Saturn SKY) i had 1 year ago. This machine is something different from a turbo American car. It is on another level in terms of quality, engine, driving. My exhaust has been completely replaced with a new custom Larini style exhaust with sport cats, an X-pipe and mufflers. It was a special job applied to my car from an expertise exhaust center here in Greece. Now the sound of my Maserati is fantastic and of course i feel it more powerful. I also put a new air filter from formula dynamics and im waiting some info about the group buy of DMS ECU remap to complete the tuning. The only disappointment was that i had to face some issues after sometime of the ownership and had to pay few times . At first it was the air condition compressor, later it was some problem with the soft top mechanism which my Maserati dealer needed to work two different days to fix it , i also had to replace the bearing support of one of the rear wheels, a small electronic part also appeared later and had to be replaced too. Finally few days ago a had to replace both the rear suspension wishbones cause the previous parts were completely rusted and the car couldn't be aligned at all!! Now im waiting for a clutch replacement in the near future cause my clutch life according to the SD/2 results is at the 72%. I purchased the car with 64% clutch life left. There is no Greek independent Maserati club even a net forum. Only an Alfa Romeo club and forum which includes all the other Italian brands (Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini). So some of the very few Maserati owners here in Greece don't know each other except 2 guys which i have met in the past and a trip which was arranged with some more Maserati owners at the summer time which i couldn't participate because of my job. The prices are quite high in order to afford a Maserati Coupe and go higher for the Spyder version. Starting at a 2002 Maserati Spyder with 50000 Km on it, you have to pay from 35000 euros and above. Maybe very few thousand euros less for the coupe version. A 3200 GT starts from the 28000 euros. All prices increase a lot when the mileage is low and the car is newer. Not to forget to mention that the number of Maserati cars that are on sale right now are limited.

Great write up Kyriakos......a wonderful insight to all things Maserati in your home country.

You Maserati prices appear to reflect those of the other EU countries........just 20-40% more than we pay here in the UK!

I am sure you turn a few heads with the Larinis ......:)

What were the symptoms of the bearing support failure?

Fingers X-ed you've no more probs and the DMS up-grade can work for you!

Cheers,

P

Of course Frank! You can see them from a great distance!! They do not know what is closing till i get my ticket for the over limited db :))

I think that the bearing support has to do with the awful roads we have in Greece. Many times you feel that your car is being raped with all these defect parts of the roads. You need to be careful a lot in case you own an expensive car cause mechanical problems start arising rapidly!

Hi Kyriakos and welcome to the forum. From your detailed introduction it sounds as though you've had more than your fair share of faults to correct, so it's great to hear you are still happy with your car. :D

With regard to the clutch, I wouldn't rush to change it just because the SD2 is reading 72%. If you start to get flashing gear selection indicator, this is also a way to tell that your clutch is worn. If you don't have the flashing indicator, then your clutch is okay for the time being. Just keep an eye on it and enjoy the driving! :D

Hope you find some time to post some photo's of your Spyder. It's always nice to see them warming themselves in the sun!

Regards, Miles.
