I've had to split my funds into two cars and buy the dreaded diesel. I hate getting in it and starting it every morning but can't spend £75 p/w getting to work and back, hence the 4200/Alfa split rather than a GS or I might've had a GT by now. Thinking of selling the Alfa this minute but can't get excited about any replacement. I'm happy to keep the Maserati as a second car but have a max of £10k to spend on the other sensible car. It must do 30mpg or more and have a boot so I can go away in it with family, any suggestions.
P.S. I dont do Audis, BMW, anything French or Asian, American or Scandinavian or Vauxhall or Ford.....yes fussy, I call it taste!
Also needs to be quick and stylish! Sort of narrows it down to Alfas doesn't it? Or is that my narrow-mindedness on Italian Cars being the default choice.

no point in owning a maserati if you dont feel you can put the foot down, there is the other of looking at this is that some big cars can be had for peanuts, my daily being a 635csi, which does enjoy a drink but does almost 30 mpg on the motorway and is depreciation free. So i spend it on petrol rather than depreciation

I use the Smart Car for driving around town. It makes sense purely on the basis that the Maserati is too much of a target for parking scapes or vandalism. It also makes me appreciate the Maserati more using on an occassional basis rather than everyday transport

Mine is my daily driver. It's always in "Sport" mode. However, as I work from home, I don't have to factor in commuting. So, this keeps my annual mileage relatively low.

I had too get rid of my Maserati because of my business taking a down turn the last couple of years but I never held back with the fuel when I had it, although I never really drove it fast! I just loved being in it and just driving it at any speed I...Oh god I miss it!! don't think fuel prices should really make a difference when owning a super car. I had a dreaded diesel for day to day business use. I've got a plan to get another one in the next two years no matter what the fuel prices might be, may look at Gran Tourismos by then.

I must admit I do like big powerful diesels, the huge waves of torque and unruffled progress are great for touring. However, nothing in my experience approaches the sheer theatre of driving a Maserati with 'spirit'. Boll.cks to fuel prices, enjoy it while you still can!

YOUR RIGHT FOOT IS YOUR LIGHT FOOT....

Thats my current poster campaign in work for the lorry drivers ........With a pic of burning money coming out of the petrol tank..........

The current price of fuel has added 20k to my weekly fuel spend....which isn't in my budget....
