The bigger engine in the Saxo seems to be cheaper to insure than the bigger engined Pug & yet it is the same motor?

Popularity is also a factor, i wonder if a 106 GTI would be cheaper than a Saxo VTR to insure, 106 GTI is more rare i would guess.

Didn't look into the VTR's and GTI's for his first car even a 1.4 was pushing it... His first journey was to Snowdonia & North Wales and coming home on Sunday after moving to Cardiff on Saturday to watch the Rugby... It has been sat on the drive for a couple of months waiting for him to get the insurance money together and I think it has never been over 50 as its been a family car since new for a couple of young mums!! I kid you not the brakes are all orrigional and there is not a single ridge on the disks & about 8mm of pads left.

I expect he will have given it a good 'road service' by the time it gets home.. He says it is loostening up all the time and it's pretty responsive. I did a complete servce on it and put Platinum plugs, new filters and loads of other tricks so it should be good. Shame we had to loose the 16" rims and 195/45 Falcons made it look proper chav!

So what is it Newton, is it a 1.4 Forte model?? a mate of mine has a C2 VTR, goes like the clappers. Your comment about the brakes make me laugh, i bet there is enough room in the boot for a good size sub woofer :D:D

Cant believe the insurance is a lot on one of those. Does not have a sporty name. Insurance is a joke though, just done a quote for me on a Saxo VTR, fully comp, 10k miles per year, 2.3k. Mental.

They have not dropped lads insurance to match girls just upped girls to lads; morover they are still arguing that the increased risk is spread over all policies (cr@P)... I think insurance is my single biggest wind up at the moment, you just feel mugged every time you talk to them.

I approached Classicline Insurance about upping the agreed 5000 mile limit because I am using it a lot more than anticipated because of my sons condition. They asked me by how much and initially said 2500 (7500 total). They contacted Brit Insurance (the underwriters) and I waited for the cosh. I got a call back saying they would make it 10000 just to make sure I had enough and there would be no charge. I've never been indebted to an insurance company before and it's a strange feeling! I will be giving them a call when it comes comes up renewal next Feb. A good, decent company, I can recommend them.

He's doing Ok at the moment, thanks Adam. No real change so we will have to see what the future holds, but one thing it does hold for sure is lots of miles in the Maser!
