...The Pirelli P Zeros have lasted less than 8000 miles (a lot less given that they are almost slicks at the inside!) and I'm not a particularly spirited driver.

What do people recommend for longevity?

In your case I'd start by getting a full alignment check.

I had Vreds on the back of mine. Liked them and were cheap enough

yeah, you're right about alignment.

What are 'Vreds', and where did you get them?

I seem to remember (can't find it via search) that a lot of people rate Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Sport 4S's?

Is the pop corn Gif because i have asked such a well trodden question I am about to get burnt? or are you interested in the replies?
No flames here at SM (although there are plenty of threads to read about tyres).
As Catman says, there is just endless opinion and debate on this topic.
I tell myself that I am interested to watch the back-and-forth, hence the popcorn, but actually I'm not sure I can stand it!

....but I will say that on my QPV I have Goodyear Eagles in summer and Pirelli Sottozeros in winter, and am very happy with those. I have some part-worn Pirelli P-zeros in my garage that I just cannot abide.

And since I know nothing about what's good or bad, I plough on with P zeros. Never had a problem except they don't last long. Rears not much more than 5 6 k. Fronts 10k. Might try the PS4s next and suffer mismatched tyres for a period.

Gosh they're cheap. Good value too? Did they last?

I found them very grippy (although I really don't drive hard). Certainly not much wear on them in the 10 months they've been on. Jake could give you a precise measurement.

So it isn’t just me with chocolate PZeros.

Wonder how long Michelins will last?

I know nothing about what's good or great, but I know bad when I feel it. Switching from P-zeros to Goodyears fixed this problem immediately.

There is a lot of discussion on P-zeros, they are almost universally thought to be a bit ****.

My experience over the years is that Michelin’s are harder wearing than some other brands. But then you pay more, so it is personal choice and budget that will help you choose.

Mine never lasted that long! I moved to Conti SC3s a while back - great tyre.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are an exceptional all rounder and what I would recommend. Somehow, they have managed to produce a tyre that is both one of the most grippy but also last longer than most others too. On my last 4 or 5 performance cars I've tried most of the usual suspects - pirelli Falkens, Kumho, Dunlop Sport, Bridgestone potenza, Goodyear eagle F1 , and F1 Asymetric which was my previous favourite.
The Michelin Pilot Super Sport were as good as the Eagle F1 Asymetric but lasted nearly twice as long, and the Pilot Sport 4S are better still. They are good in the dry, the rain, and even hold their own on track, and as mentioned last very well too.
Yes they are 'quite' expensive. It 'may' be slightly more economical to buy cheaper if they are harder compound tyres, but the grip levels will be massively reduced. Its up to you what's more important.
Whatever you choose, make sure you go to a proper wheel alignment specialist (not a high street chain) and get a geometry set up done. If they're any good they will ask you what sort of driving you do, whether you want grip, longevity or somewhere in between etc... It's well worth the extra £ a good place will charge.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S s fitted this morning.

They don't seem to look as good as the PZeros, (Don't seem to 'sit' right on the rim57583) but if they last longer than 7000 miles, I will be happy!
