Dicky has previously mentioned the clutch being different on the MCV compared to the GS.... Can anyone verify this?

My MCV has the American specification cats in the exhaust manifold. Has anyone else with an MCV found this also?

Any other MCV part differences?.................

Miles,

-Re the clutch, have tried to obtain info from Marios directly re part number as that was where the clutch change took place - didnt mention or offer the part number used

-There is some talk that the ECU mapping is different, in Melb. we have found a tuner that has downloaded the std. GS settings (and in fact has done quite a bit to improve the performance by reflashing). I will send u a PM. Plan is some time in the new year will download my map settings and x check with the std GS specs.
Same comment (re map specs for MCV being different) came to us from an owner in Switzerland - We need to estblish this one way or another

-Other differences (apart from the blu/black carbon trims) , front spoiler has a different profile to GS for supposedly better high speed stability, alcantara interior instead of leather

-Vague reference in an article regarding, suspensions/steering setting being different but cannot estabilsh

-Primary cats are inbuilt into the manifold on my car- believe this is the case with all MCVs, secondary cats I replaced with Larini sports decats.( FD/Larini are meant to release an aftermarket manifoild that addresses the primary cats restriction)

Thats all I can remember without access to my notes

Interesting, I thought the primary cats were in the manifold of all GS and MCV s. Mileswhy do you say yours are American spec?

TBH, I was under the impression that the MCV differences were mainly cosmetic with a bit of weight saving thrown in. I didn't think there were any major mechanical differences.

Hi Geoff, I've always assumed this based on the Eurospares diagrams, which show the manifold cats as the US / Canadian spec' but not the UK spec.

Thanks for the details Adam. I too will await confirmation on the clutch, as I can see no reason why it would be different, and when mine was taken out recently to have the clutch position sensor changed, it looked no different.

I too have heard talk of the MCV having a different map. Whether this is a consequence of the manifold cats I'm not sure, but I've also heard slightly quicker shift times quoted, though with no substantiation.

The steering rack is certainly different, with a quicker turn.

It was more these sorts of mechanical / electrical differences I was interested to explore rather than the cosmetics, as I think we all know these by now.

regards, Miles.

Bumping this thread back up, as a new owner I have nothing to add but curious to learn more about what Maserati may have got up to with the MCV
