If you want to depress yourself, ring a main dealer and ask what they would give. The price will be low but they will deal. Indepedent dealers will be c£3k more but are unlikely to buy unless it is a px and then they are giving you an overallowance which gets you all excited at how much your Maser is worth but you are just paying for it by not getting a discount on your new car.

You are also left with the legacy of the first owner not servicing the car on time. Look at this:

http://pistonheads.com/sales/2071039.htm

Strikes me that it was late for its first service by about three months. Not sure if the GranTurismo is 10k or 15k service intervals but it is 12 months.

Interestingly this car was on Autotrader for £52k for a short time as a private sale but now it is up with a dealer at £53k. I presume that after taking a discount on the new car, the true trade that the dealer paid the owner would be c£45k. If so then did the owner not have the car up for £48k on the web, take or leave it, rather than the £52k and no one rings as its too expensive for a private sale with only six months warranty left?

Yeah, it all seems a bit........depressing.......but we have to remember.....these are premium cars, now nearing the bottom of their value curves.......so we have to be realistic, if they weren't so cheap, plus we weren't prepared to take a risk on them, no-one would buy them.

For most 1st/2nd owners, they are covered by a warranty.........bliss for 3 yrs.......once you get to years 6/7/8.....not so rosey...............we have to take all these things into account.

Cripes I like the blue one, that looks like good value. The first car is possibly just parked at a wierd angle causing the o/s/r suspension to compress, but the nose cone does look like a different colour to the rest of the car.

Yeah I hope it stays around too, still awaiting cash flow developments to enable me to buy one and I;ve had my eye on that for a while now.

The thing is if you are really worried about losing money then don't but these type of cars...I've lost loads on cars in the past and bought models that I know will struggle to sell and lose money..But I did it as I wanted to enjoy them, drive them....and I did and have.

Oh .... I can't bear it anymore!

Been watching this thread all day, silently. This thread is all about my £23,250 GS which I hastily advertised half-heartedly. For the record:

There is NO fat chick in the back seats
The rear suspension is absolutely fine
The front nose cone is not a different colour

Unfortunately somebody spotted the advert within an hour and is very keen; I thought I'd be waiting weeks for a phone call and now I'm having a real dilemma. Going to test drive a couple of 159s tomorrow and see how I feel ...

A 2.4 JTDM TI is probably the favourite as it seems to be the best rated and I'm smitten with Italian cars. Will be interesting to see how the Alfa performs tomorrow, and whether the reduced running cost is worth sacrificing the GS for. A big day and a big decision awaits ...

Lovely motor, love the 159 in TI spec, looks great, really stylish car, i think i like the Sport Wagon version best as well. Anyway, if you chose the Alfa, good luck with the sale of the GS.

Has it got hazy history then Woody..
I havent seen the car Andy, but going of comments on here and from when the car was advertised over the last however many months, its looks to have done 2k in 18 months and be overdue a service. Also, I'm pretty sure someone on here also said when they called about the car it had 90k on it, though that may be crossed wires.

I've not spoken to the owner, but I would want to see its been serviced when due.

Froddy, I#ve yet to see a GS which had a nose cone that matches perfectly - I belive they're made of different material (plastic) to the bonnet/wings, so hard to match exactly, even from the factory.

Best of luck with the sale.
