Firstly let me start off by offering sincere thanks and appreciation to member GETRDY and the team from ART in melb. for doing the research and applying their findings to GETRDY's GS in a live environment.
As most of you are aware, one of the weakest points with the 4200 series is the clutch assembly. Apart from wear on the clutch plate itself (to a degree can be managed by driving style), the pressure plate fingers have a tendency to collapse randomly - sometimes within short period after pp replacement.
A suitable solution appears now to be at hand and to my knowledge undiscovered in any of the Masa forums.
Thru connections/input from one of the local independents and active Ferrari racing team, Ãt has been verified that the pressure plate from the road Ferrari 430 & F430gt3 (both identical part #'s) is a perfect bolt on fit for the GS and presumably 4200 series coupes/spyders.
Effectively this means we have available a far more robust alternative to the OEM offering. (I have suspected that at least with the MCV's this area was beefed up and perhaps this is how)
GETRDY has been driving with the upgrade pp for some 500km -(yes I know early days) and reports no issues and a marginal better/smoother gear change particularly in the low gears.
For mine this is great news and one we should be ware of
txs for taking the time and implementing, I'm sure the forum will be keen to hear more in due course
(Will post any pics when available)
