My windscreen washer jets are blocked and I can't clear them Does anyone know how easy they are to replace and whether the Alfa 159 model jet is the same. Looks identical from the picture I've seen.
Cheers Martin. I've ordered the Alfa ones - got a pair on eBay for £6.93!! I'll have a go with an air blast when I get the chance.I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago, and managed to clear them with a blast from an air hose (from the top rather than from underneath). Now have 4 powerful jets from each side, rather than a somewhat pitiful dribble from a couple of the jets and the others doing their best to miss the windscreen. When I looked, as far as I could make out, the Alfa 159 ones looked identical.
Assuming no water is spraying on the floor from a split hose, maybe the pump is blocked up or on its way out.Fitted the replacement nozzles just now - very easy 5 min job. Still got a problem though. There seems very little water pressure so it comes out of the nozzles very slowly. Any ideas anyone? I can hear the pump running.
Cheers. No loss from a split pipe by the look of it, so I guess it could be a blocked pipe from the pump or the pump itself failing. Is it an easy job to replace the pump?Assuming no water is spraying on the floor from a split hose, maybe the pump is blocked up or on its way out.
I'll give that a go! Don't have false teeth myself (yet!), so a trip to the pharmacy will be needed.you may find the bottle is stagnet... you get a thin layer of film developing which can cause blockages.
You may want to run the system through with some false teeth sterident tablets
I would probably pull the pipe off 24 and then test it. If flow is OK you know it is the pipework to the jets. If not blockage is from the tank or pump shot. The pump is £23.Cheers. Blimey - £23 for a Maserati part. Nearly fell off my chair. Thought it would be in the hundreds as with most other parts!!
I did the test earlier removing the pipe from the joint shown and still a trickle. I'll try the Sterident in the reservoir first, then tackle the pump.

I've put a couple of Steradent tablets into the reservoir and things seem to be improving slowly. Ordered a new pump from Eurospares just in case. Cheaper than Meridian by about £15.Pumps normally just push into rubber seal. No idea how easy they are to get at though. I guess you could find a cheaper one if you knew which alfa or fiat it is from.

Is it an easy job to get to the pump Phil?It will be gunge around the outlet where the pump pushes in.
Many have a rubber gauze filter.
Removal and cleaning properly gives best results and then fill up with good screen wash.
I wish I could remember but through the inner wing I would guess probably easier with the wheel off.Is it an easy job to get to the pump Phil?
Cheers Matt. I did that and the pressure is still low. I’ll nip over when I get a chance next week.Check the pipe is not crimped anywhere. Run it over, I’ll take a quick look at it for you.
Open the bonnet and on the passenger side of the scuttle, the pipe pushes on there. Pull it off and fire the washers and check for good pressure there.
That will give you an idea of which end the problem lies.
The washer fluid turns to jelly if left to go stale and clogs the system.
Ordered a pump yesterday just in case. I’ll give it a go if I can drag myself away from the pub!! Failing that, I’ll bring it to you!!Pump then. Might be wise to get one just in case cleaning doesn’t fix it.
If you fancy getting out of your garden pub, NSF wheel off, front arch liner out, then behind there is your headlight support that needs to come off, 4mm hex/10mm but they can be rusty and stubborn.
