Hi All,

Need your help. I am in the process on deciding on a GT purchase and need the following info to make a decision on a deposit today. Would normally ring around but as its Sunday I cannot get the info from a main dealer and cannot find fixed prices online.

  1. What is the cost of a 4th Year Maserati Main Dealer Service on a GT including brake fluid? When I had mine is was around £1200 but not sure if things have moved on.
  2. What is the minimum front brake disk thickness on the GT

Thanks in advance!

If I remember rightly, new front discs are 32mm and minimum thickness is 30mm.

I think a 4 year service is one of the big ones, at a dealer and would include lamba sensors, carbon canisters etc.. So I would think would be a fair bit more than your suggestion. £2.5k ish at a main dealer I would think?

A good indy would be nearer your price though.

Thanks for the quick response. Good reminder about the lambda replacement, it’s all coming back to me now from previous ownership! What’s the thought on whether their replacement is strictly necessary? Car is 3.5 years old and on 19k miles, but 2 years since its last service at 12k miles

And lamda sensors are not worth changing unless giving issues. Assuming it is 8yrs old why main dealer? Some like to keep main service history, but is a tick in the box really worth the benefits of an indie going over everything to an MD meeting their timing slots and upselling.

Think we posted at the same time. Car is 3.5y old not 8 and think there might be value in MD history at that age

I imagine £1.5k would easily be sufficient for the service (it’s second one, presumably). And the discs should still be fine at this mileage.

Everyone else has got you covered on the service. The minimum thickness is 30mm, down from 32mm new.

If a main dealer gives you the option, I wouldn't bother changing the lambda sensors at that age and mileage. Although could it effect a main dealer warranty? So they might not give you the choice.

Have a search for my recent posts on this topic.

If you want to maintain any warranty and service to Massrati spec, there is little difference in price between indy and MD .... and not enough IMO to miss out on an MD stamp.

If not, go to an indy and don't bother with Lambda sensors

My 4yr service was £2.5k and I did it largely because I had to as well as continued piece of mind and FSH; it was also linked to the 4+5yr warranty extension I'd purchased (up front - ouch :( ) at the end of Yr 3 in continuing to allow me to claim.

Missing the brake fluid?

I was doing my engine oil every year/6k miles. But last time the oil seemed to be in pretty good shape. So i might do it next year with all the other fluids and then just do it every 12.5k/2 years.

Year 4 service was £2,400 about 7 months ago at the local main dealer. Have the extended warranty so didn’t have much choice but on a 10k mileage immaculate car, I don’t think the difference is big enough to lose the full MD history.

Totally understand in your case but as the cars get older the savings allow money to be spent elsewhere to keep them in tip top condition.
