Well guys thank you for the responses rest assured im not just reading - but listening. I have to say all things considered in the above replies, I'm still leaning to the F1, but i've still got time to play with, and nothing is off the table right now (except the Strad, there is no way I could afford one!). We shall see what the next few months bring. In the meantime I am reading and learning as much as I can. I have a lot more questions to ask, but I am going to save them for a little while.

Don't know what your budget is, but don't discount the Strad. They do occasionally come up cheaper for higher miles. Ask me how I know.

The vast majority of MC Shift owners have no issues. So a person needs to know that previous models perceived issues are best kept in the realm of that model.
Agree that most MC Shifts don’t throw permanent problems that need expensive repair, however how many owners have experienced glitches, warning lights or other odd behaviour in heavy traffic on a hot day for example?

I think the F1 box is fantastic but it can rob your reliability confidence now and again by doing something odd.

Can only speak for myself and I have not experienced any glitches in traffic over the past 15,000 miles (mileage 75,000 now)
I had an issue with a ‘park off’ error message recently but that just turned out to be EPB related, the hand brake shoes just needed adjusting as they were no longer engaging fully.

Issue free on all three of mine so far over the past 5 years

For me, not at all - almost 5 years ownership across 2 MC Shifts…only niggles were a new clutch which is time/mileage bound anyway and warning lights resolved with a new battery.

I’m going to say with GT’s in general, low voltage seems to be a common issue of warning lights but just could be my experience though I’ve also seen it solve many other owner’s woes too!

You're totally right re low voltage. Almost everything strange that occurs re these cars seems to be somehow related to low voltage. Put it on a Tender when not running it daily, and be absolutely circumspect re battery health!

I appreciate that I’m rather late to the party, but if I had the option between a 2011/2012 MC Shift and a 2013/2014 MC AutoShift then I would (and did) chose the facelift car any day of the week.

Looks aside (a very polarising topic), the Sport seats are I feel significantly nicer and the power/mechanicals are an added bonus.

The seats are much better if you are tall. The pre facelift head restraints are at shoulder height for me, so useless. The early cars do sound a bit better! So facelift MC Shift for me!!
