Gransport Shocks

Good day,

I was looking at the parts catalogue and I noticed that the GS spyder and the coupe have a different code for their shocks.

The spyder has 197908 at the front and 197912 at the rear while the coupe
has 220937 at the front and 220939 at the rear.

What is the difference between these ?

Does anyone know ?

Interestingly enough....the GS Coupe has the same and GS.
So....does the ECU programming change between the spyder and the coupe ?

The question stems from the fact I owned a GS Coupe now sold and I rescued a GS spyder and I am trying to fix it. It has a sport button that does work to shift faster and slips up the flap on the exhaust but the suspension stays soft.

If anyone can help I would be very greatful.

Given that all of the suspension components are interchangeable between the coupe and spyder, I can only think that the difference in part number is related to the rating of the damper, I.e. different viscosity fluid or different size orifices in the pistons.

Common wisdom has it that if you disconnect the skyhook ecu, the suspension goes to the hardest setting. Ditto if the dampers themselves are unplugged but in this case you should get a fault light.

So that is what I would do, disconnect the wires from the dampers to the loom and see if it gives you a light / goes into rock hard mode.

Was skyhook standard on GS Spyders in the States? Is there a wire out the top of the shocks?

I was under the impression the spyder suspension set up is softer, not sure if that is shocks or springs.
