Pretty much spot on. It has never been a competitive car. Looks lovely and is decent enough but never anywhere near class leading and then add service and running costs and it adds another thing to think about. Maserati really didn’t understand what they wanted this car to achieve.

Well I love mine <shrug>

And it looks lovely, Chris.

YouTube is good for watching Bowie vids. And that's about it, far as I'm concerned. Too many "personalities" with too many "platforms" pursuing too many "clicks." I don't need hot takes on Atilla the Hun, or D-III college football recruits, or the best flavors of ice cream.

Didn't someone also post something about this guy prattling on about @RoaryRati or was that a different YouTool?

I didn’t even need to watch the video. The car, is a complete Dogs dinner from every angle and vomit inducing from a few of them!

I enjoyed my Ghibli S. Did a couple of European trips in it and found it hugely comfortable and an effortless drive, always plenty of poke on tap. Yes they are expensive to run but you shouldn’t expect anything else.

I am not so sure on you shouldn’t expect anything else around the expensive to run. Maserati was aiming this car at BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar etc and the company car market and I remember the adverts for it as a company car but with the service costs of even the diesel it was never going to make any kind of dent in any of the markets as they are silly money to service compared to the others in the class. I looked into a diesel for my commute but with a minimum of £600 a service and then parts price and it made no sense when the equivalent Mercedes/BMW service started at half that. Maserati doomed this model from the start as always with there greedy after sales prices.

You will always getting differing views and the internet just gives more exposure to them, personally I have never been a fan of the Ghibli it just doesn't look special enough to be a Maserati but I know others, some on here, who think they are great drives so as always each to his own

A few weeks ago I bought a Ghibli next to the Gransport. Mostly for its looks and fine drive. It's something different. Never thought a second about buying a 5 series, A6 or E class. Coming from a Giulia, it just brings in the things I was missing in the Alfa. Sky hook suspension in its soft mode offers a very comfortable ride, no wind noises, great seats etc. Very happy with this non rational purchase. And a less up to date multi media system, really is the very last thing that bothers me.

A new kid on the block trying to penetrate an established market is never an easy task, and Maserati's lords and masters didn't do the brand any favours; claims of warranty knock-backs from owners and stock demands for dealers didn't help, especially with the prices being asked for the cars. That said, a lot of cr@p is talked about Maserati by folk who have never owned one and never will; A 'car buff' once asked me why I bought the 3200 when, according to him, they had to be main dealer serviced every 3 months - and he said they ate clutches! Likewise, tales of reliability issues get exaggerated by rumour and internet chat, and it takes only one jaundiced reviewer to blight a brand.

The Maserati gods haven't done the brand any favours over the years, but it does look as though they now value its pedigree and its potential, hence the MC20 and Folgore. Meanwhile, Maseratis of the last 20 years can be a joy to own; they don't need to be garage queens, just cared for, and it doesn't matter which model you own as the trident gives membership of a rather exclusive and very underrated club.

I don’t disagree and Maserati and getting it so right at the moment. The MC20 and GT are just glorious and I think this is what Maserati do well. The only reason why I didn’t pursue the Ghibli as a daily drive was the silly running costs and as I do15 to 29k miles a year it was working out at just ridiculously money for what was a diesel car. But this is how Maserati was selling the car for at the time. I remember the same with my 3200.. People saying it must spend more time in the garage than on the road .

YT is for watching funny clips from TV shows that are on the wrong platforms, like Ted Lasso or Why Women Kill.
