It's a shame I've not tracked down the owner of this car for the meet this Sunday. But on the upside, we should still have about 10 Cups at Prescott Hillclimb. And the sun will be out

Guys,

I earlier dropped Ewan a note to say I legged it on holiday for a couple of weeks leaving the cup with a specialist who sent the wheels away to have them refurbished and they were unable to take the bolts off and did nothing with until as they wanted my green light to get the tool paid (at a cost of course) and they still have not received the tool. If the wheels were with the car I would just get them put back on but they are not in one place. I guess T25CUP will be letting us all down this weekend.
As a poor substitute I will be bringing my "new" GS on Sunday which all Cup owner are all welcome to try.
Many thanks Jim for sharing the pictures and Ewan working out who had owned it from my rough recollection of the number plate.
The other two good cup articles (that were not reproduced in the Maserati car Ultimate Portfolio book range) was AutoItalia November 2000 (which also featured the launch of the Alfa 147 and it still seems like yesterday) and one in EVO that featured Scott's car.
Look forward to seeing you all and apologies for not having the car which I will get out this summer to an event. All are most welcome to look at it in Leeds of course.
Best wishes guys
Malcolm

Hey Malcolm,

how do you mean 'get the tool paid'? Are your guys able to source a removal tool for the bolts?!

I am shortly to do a thread on my wheel restoration which I'm going through now- looks like alot of us tried to smarten our cars up for this weekend!!

Here is a shot of a couple of tools my team managed to fabricate. Apparently the nuts are held to the bolts with like Loctite and the whole wheel needs to be heated to 150c to break down this bond.

Hi all only me!

As some of you will know having sold my3200 ac I'm in the slow process of hunting for an open cup this going to take a long time and a great deal of patience on my part unless I go with the prototype for sale in Holland! Anyway you have been talking about a silver cup that maybe for sale, any details would be great fully received by yours truly as being mass earless is rubbish!

Unless something goes seriously wrong between now and Sunday morning, I'll be at Prescott, so looking forward to seeing all those Tridents and catching up.

Hi Andy, shouldn't you be at work?!! :D

It's being organised through the owners club, though I think there's a Jag event the same day as well.

Sorry Team,
Despite significant planning and advance preparation, I find myself completely let down at the 11th hour and as such will be unable to join you...
Have fun and take loads of shots for Uncle Jim.

(Particularly in fact: if the works Cup racer turns up- can someone try for a couple of shots of the ABS units' cooling duct mounting-brackets, for me please...)

Cuppers,
Sunday was a great day to see the many cups thanks to Ewan's hard work and thanks to Jim for the pictures of his wheel process. I still have no date for the job being completed. Fiveweeks and counting. I will retain the tool that is being made (paid) for others to use if they ever get up the courage to go through this. I am keeping my head down in case the bill heads any further north or further bad news. One day the wheels and the car maybe reunited and at least it is reducing my parking problem.
There are pictures of cups on the events section of the site.

Jim,

There will be other chances I'm sure. Wish I had never gone down this wheel refurb lark. Really was only for appearance as they were in v.good health before I started.

YES!

I can mirror that sentiment myself also- it's become a real cauldron of tentacles...

But then- they did make the car a laughing-stock...

If I'm very lucky I might see them back today... or tomorrow....

Having already gone through this wheel trauma and come out the other side, I'd say its worth it. Even if I didn't win the Concours...
