Hi all, I am just starting to strip my 1994 Ghibli in order to sort the body work issues.
I will probably be on here quite a bit asking silly questions. The first of which is.... Can any one tell me how to remove the rear seats please. I have tried brute force with no joy.
Thank you in advance for any replies

Shame my Misses isn't so enthusiastic! I think the front seats in the lounge & door cards in the spare room arn't helping!

Dickyb is the Ghibli man on here...Sure he will be along soon......Thats the dreaded rust place for most of them....Look forward to hearing how you bring her back to great condition.

Rust the joy of all old Italian cars. We have need recently been poking the bottom of the QP IV and found a few areas that need addressing for MOT but not as bad as initially feared. It does however need a good clean and retreatment to a lot of the tubes to stop them going the same way, a nice job for the winter :)

Hopefully the body work will be the worst of the project, the car appears to be good mechanically, I think the car was sat for a while before I got it.
Going to do what I can myself (with the help of a few skilled friends) to keep the cost down. The plan is to strip the shell for a complete repair & re spray, i think now is the time to catch it. It all seems quite sound but rust is a bit like an iceberg so well see what we find. Hope to have it complete for the summer (if I can get all the bits!)

:) Thanks Andy!

Nice to see a Ghibli getting some tlc. Make sure you have a good look for rust, what you see can often just be the tip of the iceberg! Have a look carefully at the screen pillars, rust can creep in underneath the trims but be warned, those trims are a ***** to remove! Have a look at the inner arches and the rear of the engine bay, particularly close to the bonnet hinges, floors etc and also peel back the door rubbers along the roof to have a look, rust can often creep in under there. Your sills look pretty standard for a Ghibli! Not too bad yet by the look of them. Also have a good look at the underside of the bonnet close to the bottom of the grille, a common rot spot.

Its been a while since I have dismantled the rear seats but from memory you need to remove the cushions first, lift the front part then they should just slide out. Once you've done that you'll see the backrest fixings (low down, either side). Undo those and the backrest should just lift out (lift it upwards).

Hope that helps, if my memory has failed me, let me know and I'll have another look.

Thank you for the reply, most helpful. I hope to continue with the dismantling next weekend. The car is locked in the garage whilst this 'hurricane' passes through.
I think as part of the project those trims will have to come off as there is a bit of rust along the top of the windscreen. They look bonded on? The rear quarter windows look a bit interesting too.
The previous owner has fitted new inner arches to the rear and a new(secondhand) bonnet that seems quite sound. But I'm sure more rust will rear its head as time goes on. Nice to know where to pay particular attention.

Thanks again Adam

Evening,

The rear seat base you need to push back and then lift up. The back rest is held in by 2 bolts that also hold the seat belts in.

The apillar /roof trim are easy to get off, you do need to remove the windscreen spoiler which requires 3 small hands....... you need to be carefull putting it back on. There are a couple of interior trim bits to come off aswell.

Where are you based ?

Hi Del,
Thank you for your reply, I might nip out to the garage for a go at the rear bench now.

I'm based In Somerset, What about yourself?

I assume from your knowledge you have or have had a Ghibli?

Isn't life easy with the right info, rear seats parcel shelf & quater cards out. Cheers all
