Hi All,

Close to being ready to do this and interested in your experiences. I have spoken to PAF systems about their TEK tiles and also looked at screwfix Ecotilr which seems pretty cheap but no idea about quality and durability?

Any other options? The prices I have seen are around £25 per sq metre but hoping to get something cheaper if I can as long as it looks good and lasts.

Cheers!

PAF System tiles are very good and very helpful - it depends what you want the flooring for - if just a nice floor to park you car then the medium tiles are good - I got the industrial tiles and these are great - no issues with car jack or chemicals (which I use a lot off) - think the only difference between the medium and mine are chemical resistance, the medium thickness ones are also OK with car jacks (a cheaper)

a part that is sometimes missed or just skipped is underlay - don't use anything that captures moisture - I used some old pond underlay and works great.

the issue I found with these type of tiles (no matter which ones you get) is they shrink (cold) and expand when hot, so you need to be sure you leave enough space at the edge for them to expand otherwise they will bend. If I was to do this again I would go for solid ceramic type tiles (that you get in garages) as the edges bug me (a little OCD)

I also checked out Ecotile direct but after speaking to PAF I used them as more helpful - glad I did - highly recommended

not sure if local but more than happy for you to pop in and check them out.

I fitted (approx 30 square meters) of PVC ecotile (the original)
Blue, with grey 'runners'...the car tyres run over the grey tiles, this was recommended as they don't show the dirt and stain from new tyres.
Yes they do expand slightly when warm, so I left a gap, and to cover the gap I fitted the matching PVC ecotile skirting board with radiused bottom (in grey to match the 'runners' and contrast against the blue) around the perimeter of the garage. So now no visible gap, the gap is covered by the skirting board.
Also of course the front leading edge of the front tiles at the garage door end are tapered to a thin edge.
Total fit and forget, apart from a mop and vac ever so often.

I think these are the soft foam tiles that I used in my daughters playroom so not suitable. Nice to put under your knees when working under the car however!

Regarding the Costco option, I have seen this in the shop and very cheap option but I wonder if they would "ruffle up" when you turn the wheel in the garage to manoeuvre the car.

Seems that Ecotile/PAF might be a good option but the Screwfix option looks like it's cheaper than I have been quoted by PAF for the same Ecotile product?

Porcelain is definitely the best option can get some good deals if you shop around and far more hard wearing than the other options

if you can, get the flat tiles - not the ones with raised patterns as moving around jacks, tool chest etc is harder

yep for the lead edge get the little ramps

do you have them, if so an issues. issue that is stopping me at the moment is they can be slippery compared to the plastics tiles

The tiles in my garage have so far survived having five four post lifts installed on top of them and having various things dropped on them - no cracks so far!

You have fated it now...next piece of soft foam or tissue that drops from you pocket.
