Garage Flooring - Interlocking Tiles

So old carpet or kitchen vinyl is a no-no then?

I used some carpet, however about a year later I was cleaning up the whole garage noticed it was damp and the floor was not dry so threw the whole lot out. I then tried vinyl from the kitchen but also got damp so for me neither worked well.

Cool. Can't wait till we get our new house with double garage. Better start my research now for ideas.

Looks great! What did you cut the tiles with and did you use any glue or mastic when linking them together?

looking good - see you went for the flat tiles - great choice

don't forget to leave a gap at the edges

Thanks! Used a jigsaw for the cuts at the edges but the tiles are not meant to be glued as they are held together with the interlock. Also had quite a few left over and it would be easy to remove and replace one tile should it get damaged. before I bought them i had a few samples which I stabbed a few times with a screwdriver to gauge how tough they were. These ones held up well but found the recycled alternatives were very soft so watch out for anyone thinking of fitting these (which are quite a bit cheaper).

Thanks Enzo. Yes I left generally 0.5 - 1.3cm gap around all the edges for expansion. I am planning to fit skirting above the floor allowing it to move underneath the skirting. Should be ordering UPVC skirting tonight but need to measure when i get home as to whether the 140mm skirting will cover the 2 brick height of the damp course. Should look tidy when complete!

Thats a cracking job, garage is basically the same as mine, minus the windows at the back. Can I be cheeky and ask how much the tiles came to?

Just found the racedek email I had a while back, they quoted £1100 all in, I think i guessed the measurements at the time just to give me an idea

I considered this stuff but got mixed feedback on it. It's relatively thin and I heared that when you turn the wheel stationary as you do when manoeuvring in the tight confines of my garage, the floor can move and "ruffle up" if you know what I mean. Trying this on my floor and no sign of movement so far. I could have done my garage for around 40-50% less but felt the extra was worth it. think it would be fine if your garage was more of a workshop and didn't have cars in and out maybe ?

I did read some reviews on it and they didn't mention it lifting , just the style of the design Which was very suited to driving on

There is a full page advert in this months EVO on floor tiles. Nkt sure which ones.
I had some samples sent through before choosing the one I went for which included floor tiles like the ad in EVO this month. Interestingly I did a rather unscientific screwdriver stab test with the recycled type in this advert and found it all too easy to puncture where as the thinner tougher 100% virgin PVC resisted damage much better. Just my own opinion/experience.

Thanks. I will post some final pics once my skirting solution is installed to cover the last of the dusty unpainted bricks below the DPC!
