Fruitless GS hunt

I've been looking for something like 6 months now and still haven't found a GS in the colours & spec that I want that I'm happy to buy. They're either over-priced, poor condition or lacking in something important on my list of requirements. I know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack by being so specific, but it's getting to the point of being depressing. I'm so fed up I bought another car today as an interim, but might keep it on for a couple of years regardless. I think I might stop looking until next year as the same old stuff is knocking about currently. If circumstances permit, I may even make the jump to a Gran Turismo instead as prices are definitely becoming more favourable.

Anyone else GS hunting who is having the same experience?

What spec etc are you looking for MAF......Oh and what have you bought to tie you over.

Black with full black leather, heated memory seats, xenons and then a couple of ideals which aren't deal breakers and could possibly be added at a later date (brake caliper colour, wheel finish etc.). 2006 or later and up to 30k miles. All this for a sensible price of course!

New car is posted in the Alfa section. Alfa GT Blackline. Huge spec, black with black leather. Devil fuel though, but the turbo is addictive! Already investigating remaps that can take it to 200bhp & 300+ lb/ft.....

Me.

Sold my last car in May, been watching GS's for longer than I care to remember. Think I'm looking as hard as can be but havent found the right car. Best value for me was the £32,500 Blue GS that Graypaul Notts had. Was a very straight car, very well prepperard and would have been almost cost free motoring. But, the colour left me a bit cold.

Of the cars I've seen and liked colour combo wise, I've struggled to find one which has had the annuals and milage services. I think this may be due to GS's being great value 2 years ago and owners not really looking into the actuals costs of running them properly before buying.

Ho-hum, I refuse to give up this time. I gave up on the 4200 a few years back and never stopped looking at Maserati adverts. So this time I'm set on finding the right car.

I think we're after similar cars MAF. Funny thing is though, its not budget that is stopping me buying its scarcity.

Good luck with new Alfa. If I come across any Nero/Nero's, I'll give you a PM.

Cheers
Woody

Depends what you think is a sensible price, but IMO you'd do well to beat this from a main agent.
Depends what your budget is - IMO this is well priced, considering.

Black with black is a big ask. Sounds like you are better waiting a year and getting into a GranTurismo - £40k for a 57 4.2 and £55k for an 09 4.7 by then?

IMO I'd say its one of the more common combo's. By my reckoning, 15 nero/nero's have been advertised this year, the cheapest being an 06 at Saxton earlier in the year, advertised at £30,950. Had 31k miles, grey piping. Was for sale a while too....

that gs is cheap woody, worth a look
Not for me mate, actively dont want nero/nero. seems well priced but might be as a result of lowish spec.

While I dont want a nero/nero, there was a nice one for sale earlier in the year with yellow piping/calipers which looked the nuts!

Yellow piping good as it breaks up the black..black on black can look a bit dowdy I think.

Sounds like you're being as 'selective' as me then Woody! Servicing is definitely an issue with some cars as well as obvious required repairs to kerb damage/tyres etc. that put me off. Ultimately I need to buy a car off somebody as picky as myself. I'll follow up on the Lancaster car as I can't remember if I've rejected it already for some reason. Budget's not really an issue as I should be able to find what I'm looking for within what I have set aside, but I'm also not going to spend all I have without justification. There are some greedy/naive sellers out there as well who seem to think that GSs have rock-solid residuals and are increasing in value. With GTs prices dropping by the month it will surely have a knock-on effect? I'm so bored of seeing the same cars for sale that I'm going to stop looking so actively until next year. Values should have settled by then, so I can make a decision about adding to the budget and jumping into a much newer model. It will be a shame because I've hankered after a GS for a long time.

Yeah, possibly. I plan on keeping it for a while so am happy to wait for something I'm happy with.

I agree with the residuals comment - I'm really surprised that a dealer or two advertise comparitively expensive cars and NEVER reduce them. Odd.

Hey y'all, don't forget the copper coloured one for sale! :)

Mine is well sorted and still has all the mods on which makes it arguably the fastest GS in the UK. And arguably the best bodywork, irrespective of age or mileage.

Black and Silver are great, but Maseratis seem to work in almost every colour - even Burgundy!

I spent 3 months looking for a Black or Nettuno Blue GS with mileage, options etc that I wanted, after a while I decided to relax my criteria and I never regretted it. Quite the opposite, in fact. Most GranSports looking stunning in the metal, whatever the colour.
