What a farce. I don’t much like either Hamilton or Verstappen but it’s just become a spectacle rather than a fair sport. Create drama at any cost. Total bollox.

I’m not bothered about Lewis, I get that you would be if you’re a fan of his. But an unfair sport is pointless. Was it fair or not?

It's not "fair" in the sense that the team let their driver down, RBR had tyre advantage throughout and were waiting for a restart to throw the race back their way. What caused the safety car restart was bad luck.

The race should have been resumed in a safe manner which it was and restarts are part of the sport.

Why do I watch the sport? My parents stuck me in front of the TV when the F1 was on for as long as I could remember. At this point its some kind of bizarre conditioning, I don't even enjoy it!

In F1 they always re-order the grid before a restart - it would have been a strange call if it happened as a race order grid but I am guessing they would have been forced into it if they ran out of time with cleaning up the crashed Williams.

Next year should be interesting, huge rule overhaul and tight budget gaps might bring the field closer together - no doubt there will still be a dominant team or two (maybe Ferrari and McLaren back in it as well)

They’d have done that if they’d known and pulled him in and had one lap to do him on fresh tyres, but when they had the chance to make that decision, they were told the back markers couldn’t pass so they stayed out, then the race directors change their mind and too late for Lewis, Max was always going to overtake having caught up under safety car. Hamilton couldn’t have made any decision to help him win, unless he had slyly crashed into him on the final lap, Schumacher style.

Whatever the ins and outs of the safety car / lapping business, Lewis blew it when he went wide with Max taking advantage in that split second, and Toto Wolfe was out of order screaming down the comms to the race director.
