Hi all,

Collected car from garage today, full report to follow.. however, on a trip out this afternoon I noticed my gear light flashing on the display - no other lights or problems, what could it be?

I have not any knowledge of this but a quick search around points to a gear shifting error. This can be due to low hydraulic pressure, failing CC pump or relay or a faulty actuator or a clutch that is on its way out.

It could just be one of those random errors that will go, so dont panic just yet, but would check to see if you CC pump is working correctly. To do this, lock the car, unlock the car then open the drivers door and listen for the CC pump priming. It should whizz for about 5 seconds. If it does nothing or goes on for too long, replace the relay first, situated above the battery.

Here is a thread about the pump and relay replacement:

Do the tests above and come back to us with the results.

Also, try a battery reset.

Drop the drivers door window
Open the boot and turn the battery off and leave for an hour. Do not shut the boot.
Reconnect the battery
Start the car and let idle without touching anything for 10 minuets.

I get this but only when in 6th gear and ive been at a constant speed for around 30 minutes , changing back into 5th makes the light solid and another change back into 6th keeps things at bay for another 30 mins or so , Marios at Autoshield suggested topping up the F1 fluid which i did befor emy trip to LeMans but made no difference , car still drives as normal ,and gear selection is as normal , so im bemused at the moment and will be interested to the fix /outcome

Battery reset makes no difference, my F1 pump sounds normal in stationary mode , who knows whats happening at speed

Well this hasn't happened again since yesterday, when it did happen it was through all gears inc neutral.

F1 pump appears fine, car has been reset numerous times at the garage, also had 2nd year fluids and the major service.. I'll ask Emblem for their opinion next week.

Hi Goatherder, Had exactly the same problem back in May. Nothing to indicate why it might have happened, nothing untoward whilst it was flashing, and since then it's never happened again. For me it was during a run home from work; only a few miles and as it's never happened since I've put it down to a random occurrence. OM shows it as a poor gear selection indicator, so maybe just a ECU glitch it that one start-up sequence on that particular journey.

Spoke to Myles about this morning, he reckons most likely the gear selection parameters need to be reset and relearned , he has heard of it before but not that common , him and Martin did some research and rang me back to confirm the same ,

Thanks Emtee, fingers crossed it's just a glitch. Loz, quick work! I do remember Darren, one of the engineers at Emblem, mentioning that pretty much everything had been reset in order to re-learn - maybe it's related to that. Anyway, will keep an eye on it.

I'll aim to post up some details/pics of my cars recent visit to the garage tomorrow!

Thanks all

Just to add mine to the list too. It's been doing it for two years, on and off. Clutch tested OK, ECU has been reset, F1 pump, fluid and relay all OK, 10000 miles since first time and no driving issues whatsoever.

If it's a glitch, it's not something that appears to affect the car in any way at all.

Glad it's not just me though!

We'll see gonna book the car in for my clutch in a couple of weeks if my brake up grade is off for a bit , so the reset /relearn which is all part of the clutch set up , should eradicate it hopefully

Same thing happened to me last week on the way to the Mottram Hall supercar meet in Manchester.

Only happens at speed after a longish spell of motorway driving in 6th gear.

Changing down to 5th and then back to 6th sorted the problem for the duration of the journey.

I hope its just electronic gremlins!!

Hi James, If it's happening repeatedly under similar circumstances, then it may be more than just a gremlin. I believe Loz commented that it could point to low F1 pump oil level? The thread's on the forum somewhere. I'll have a look for it this evening and post the link. Cheers, Miles.

I just got this...doing a battery reset as we speak...fingers crossed!

That said, I did just take the car to main dealer (they are the only ones in town with SD tool...for now) and had them state obvious that clutch was at 80% wear and they adjusted the PIS setting.

Will keep you all posted...all necessary parts needed for clutch job are sitting at my indie just in case!

Keep us posted JP , be good to get a difinitive answer to this anomilae, it doesn't seem to be a problem just annoying , mines still doing it and ive noticed that the speed at which it does it is reducing as time goes by , originally done it only after after 30 mins cruising at speed say around 80mph , now it does it when cruising at 50-60 so its progressing , my fluid and pump are fine , like you ,now that my big brake upgrade has just been completed , i will be booking her in for the clutch bits to be fitted that ive had for the last 10 months

Down at Marranello this morning so i'll pump the tech , see if i can get all the parameters reset ,

I'd agree regarding clutch wear in relation to PIS setting. Once you're on the minimum PIS, further clutch wear is bound to bring slippage and therefore gears not properly engaged. My new clutch arrived today and will hopefully be fitted next week, so I'm hoping this will be a thing of the past. Let's see! :)
