Fan resistor

Is there an alternative for the fan resistor on a gransport? One of the very few things highlighted by Emblem yesterday at their saturday clinic was that the fans run on full speed, and that the fan resistor is the culprit, also need a handbake cable, front wishbone ball joint, and steering rack gaitors, and i think that was about it. :thumb3:

Is this as easy as this Maseratilife post makes it sound? “This is a piece of cake to check. Look at the bottom and middle of the radiator and you will see 2 red wires(GRANSPORT WAS RED)plugged in. There are 2 phillips head screws. Just remove them and pull the resistor out slowly.”?

Does that assume it’s on a ramp or can I do it from above or with an axle stand?

Fiat number 1355607080 from a Ducato van is an option as well. Thats the one I used and was readily available from local Fiat commercial dealer. You will need to jack up the front and remove the under tray to gain access.

If you have small arms/hands you can do it from above or below if you drop the tray off, easier from below with the tray off.

Brilliant, thanks guys. I’ve got one ordered and will see if I can do it on the street rather than wait until I can get to a place with axle stands. I don’t want to use the car too much with fans going full speed - can’t be good for them!

Interesting! The fans on my QP run fast a minute after start-up and temps are always about 4pm on the dial.

If this is an easy job I might take to it myself, although perhaps the fan speed is normal?

Doubt it. Should be two speeds. Although aircon will make it go fast
