Exhaust tail pipes

Ben, the Autoshield pipes sound far meatier than standard. There is no box just 4 tail pipes with internal perforations to 'round' the sound off. However, I had my perforated pipes replaced by solid pipe and that made a big difference. if you are keeping the centre box standard it might be worth considering, but you will need forgiving neighbours!

Andy, I can't see how a one into two tail pipe can lose power if the cross sectional area is the same, the gas velocity stays the same. Anyway, a Maser has to have four pipes, it's the law!

If you look at the parts diagram for the Trofeo, the rear boxes are replaced with straight pipe pairs, as per Autoshield offering.
They most be louder than say larini or Tubi, they have some sound deadening, straight pipes have nothing.
Larini or Tubi must be a deeper tone I assume therefore?
Cheers

Right let us begin;

Larini sports cats, standard centre box and straight through rear pipes (no internal perforated pipe).

Larini sports cats, Autoshield straight through X pipe and straight through rear pipes (no internal perforated pipe).

As above, fly by;

This is how mine is at the moment. The mic on an i-phone doesn't do it justice but gives an idea as to the difference. Best heard through head phones. Ps how do you embed video on here?

If the pipe splits, then the air, must have to slow down, regardless of size.
Sounds from an exhaust, will depend on pressure, length,size and speed. Straight through, will be loud. [no pressure, good speed, and right bore size].
Back box, slow speed, resonance, and depends what materials in box, a muted sound.
How many silencers is there, after the collector? How many Cats each side? There are racing cats, that flow very well. Anyone, used them?

Yes Ian, the second set-up, you can here the air speed of the exhaust, with greater pick-up, i bet, more torque, and should rev easier, as its breathing better?

Horses for courses. It really is laugh out loud outrageous. I am having the X-pipe silenced a bit to 'round' off the sound. A work in progress. It picks its feet up and goes well in fast company. It constantly surprises much more expensive exotica.

Sounds brilliant!!
Not so good, if you live in a town, or City. Neighbours would be a bit pizzed?
Those Sports cats, will bellow, but if you quieten the exhaust, be careful, you are not taking away power!
Only way to quiten the thing, is use race silencers, at the back, which are able to be taken to pieces, and filled accordingly.

Oh, look at the new GTS. It has one large exhaust per side, not 4!! Oh the calamity! Looks like the new Sport has a tuned exhaust.

Its how they breathe, thats important. Having the right length primary pipes, secondary pipes, and least amount of back pressure, on a none turbo engine. A tuned exhaust.

Well, im after buying a restaurant at the moment. If i get the price down, then the Maser, might be on the shopping list. If not, an Abarth, will have to do for now.
If i buy it, all welcome.

Andy.
