Emissions differences between 2005 and 2006 QP?

Hi all,

I assumed there were no technical changes between these 2 years, but my 2005 car is not exempt from the London ULEZ charge, whereas a 2006 car is. Can anyone shed any light on this? If there are no differences, I can hopefully make an ‘appeal’ to TFL.

Thanks in advance,

~Chris

Bad news Chris. It would appear that something was done to change the emissions.

I suppose in theory, fitting a 2006 exhaust system to the 2005 car might do the trick, but in practice, I suspect not. Plus it would be hard to get it signed off.

Thank you for this information. Can I ask where you found this? Seems I might have to p/ex my car for a 2006 if I want to keep driving in London...

~Chris

Maybe you can find a non-London person on here with a 2006 who would swap..... (For any value difference plus £210 per year for the road tax...)

I was thinking about that! I was very pleased, when I bought the car 2 years ago, to see that the road tax was much less than for a 2006.

I didn’t expect our London mayor to also expand this ULEZ zone to the north and south circular in less than 2 years. I’m fine for now. I use my battered old Prius for going into central london :)

Registration numbers will often not be an accurate reflection of year of manufacture. It should be year of manufacture that counts when it comes to ULEZ. Meaning, it should really be based on VIN/Chassis numbers .
Bikes are having a bit of a mare with Kahns sweeping legislation too...In this case, we are encouraged to get the bike tested, and to submit a test report so as to be levied on the basis of ACTUAL emissions output....I'm sure it is a simple thing thing to do. The associated bureaucracy is likely a different kettle of pish however...?

Mark you can update your avatar with your registration now. No need to hide anymore :thumb3:
True. TBH, I never really understood the whole hiding of registrations thing. Is it about people being able to see a suitable number to clone for their car?

That's always the reason that people have given me. Don't get it either.
